Angel Reese is that girl. From the WNBA hardwood to starring in Netflix productions to walking in a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the 23-year-old knows all about being in the spotlight.
The spotlight comes with a heavy crown, though, and Angel Reese knows that best. In a new interview, the former Chicago Sky player got candid about the steps she took to protect her peace amid the chaos and to take control of her own story.
Angel Reese Decided It Was Time To Control Her ‘Narrative,’ So She Did This One Thing…
As she heads into her third season in the WNBA, Reese is busier than ever, shooting ads, modeling, acting, and even podcasting.
That’s right—the LSU alum has her own podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” which has featured big names, from Speedy Morman to “Love Island” star Olandria Carthen.
In 2024, Reese said that launching the show was just one of the ways she could connect with her fans and reach new audiences.
She echoed that sentiment in a new interview with Elle Magazine and also said another reason for the show was to regain control of her personal story.
“It’s important to have your own narrative and be able to take control of that,” she said. “I wanted to have my own name and be able to break my own news on my podcast.”
Reese said it’s tricky to know which headlines to believe. “… but when it comes straight from me, it’s a reliable source,” she said.
Why Else Did Angel Reese Want To Start A Podcast?

“Unapologetically Angel” isn’t just about Reese, though. According to the 6’3″ baller, her podcast is for the guests just as much as her.
“It’s also important for guests to be able to come on and talk about their upcoming things, be unapologetic, speak their truth, and just have fun,” Reese said.
Reese explained that the purpose of her podcast isn’t to stir up trouble or create viral moments.
“Like, we’re gonna have a good time and authentically probably go viral, but there’s nothing here for anyone to be scared of,” she said.
For Reese, providing outspoken celebrities with the space to be themselves was her ultimate goal.
“I know how it feels to be on the other side, to feel like the media is against you. So being able to have a comfortable and open space for guests to come on, but also for myself to have my own platform was important for me,” she said.
Does Angel Reese Have A Dream Guest For Her Show?

In addition to the names above, Reese has also interviewed Ciara, Common, Dwayne Wade, and Shaquille O’Neal.
And while she said they have been “amazing,” there’s one A-lister she’s hoping will make a future appearance.
“Rihanna would be a dream guest,” she said before teasing her upcoming appearances.
“I think it’s really important to be that culture barrier and understand how culture and sports collaborate with each other,” she finished.
Reese Is On The Move

Besides her podcast, Reese has other things to focus on these days. According to The Blast, she was traded from the Chicago Sky to the Atlanta Dream on the first day of WNBA free agency.
Reese, who led the Sky in every statistical category in 2025, will join Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and likely Brittney Griner in the A.
Regarding the move, Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said the trade was to help the organization achieve roster balance amid the new CBA.
“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky. We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond,” he said.
Reese Is Ready For The Next Chapter

Speaking with the media following her trade, Reese expressed her gratitude and boasted about how eager she was to play on a championship-contending team.
“I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream,” she said.
In a video on Instagram, Reese also paid homage to the city of Chicago, saying, “You showed me real love from day one. Thank you, Chicago. [I’m] always Chi-Town Barbie.”
