Things are already looking up for Tekashi 6ix9ine, that is, if he holds up his end with the feds.
The popular artist finally returned home after spending three months behind bars, and hopefully will steer clear of vices that would send him back to jail. He was taken into custody and pleaded guilty in court to three violations of his previous probation agreement.
Tekashi 6ix9ine’s use of controlled substances is public knowledge, as well as his several run-ins with the law over the years. The rapper has also been tied to sexual charges involving a minor after clips of him filming a friend in the act went viral.
Tekashi 6ix9ine Must Stay Away From Felons, Guns, And Drugs

The iconic rapper, upon completing time at the federal institution, has been released and is in celebratory mode. But his freedom may be cut short if he breaks any of the three conditions set for him by the authorities. His longtime attorney, Lance Lazzaro, spoke to TMZ, sharing the strict rules his client has to follow to ensure he remains a free man. The lawyer shared that 6ix9ine must stay away from convicted felons, guns, and drugs.
According to Lazzaro, his client is taking the time to enjoy his sobriety and is currently not on any drugs despite his history with controlled substances. To ensure the rapper stays clean, his probation officers will conduct drug tests over the next twelve months of his federal supervision. The obtained court documents also show that 6ix9ine must submit ot one drug test upon his release from jail and at least two random drug tests later on.
Finally, the “GUMMO” artist has been ordered to enroll in an outpatient drug treatment program in addition to a mental health treatment program with a focus on anger management. Despite the strict rules, Lazzaro shares that his client is extremely happy to be free once again and is looking forward to getting his career back on track.
Why Was The Rapper Thrown In Jail?
6ix9ine’s recent conviction came after he broke the conditions of his previous federal probation. He pled guilty to three violations: one for committing an assault and two for possessing a pair of controlled substances. After this, the rapper was sentenced to three months behind bars at MDC Brooklyn.
Last year, the popular musician failed a federally administered drug test, where he tested positive for two hard drugs in his system. The urine test showed he had cocaine and MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy or molly, which is a drug that acts as a stimulant and hallucinogen.
The federal orders for his maintained freedom do not extend to alcohol, as he is allowed to drink to ease stress according to his legal representative and the court documents. Seemingly holding the law to its word, 6ix9ine celebrated his release over the weekend with some expensive bottle service at a strip club in Pompano Beach, Florida.
The Entertainer Went Behind Bars In High Spirits

Unlike many who frown at the news of getting jail time, 6ix9ine reportedly went in this time happily and with high hopes of spending quality time with the arrested Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro.
The Blast reported that the artist showed up to check himself into the correctional facility early this year in a sprinter van playing his songs loudly through the speakers. He revealed that going into jail, he had plans of bonding with Maduro since they were to be in the same building through dance and games.
6ix9ine noted that his time at the Metropolitan Detention Center would be utilized in making friends with his fellow inmates and would even challenge the arrested Venezuelan leader to a game of cards. The artist’s jail trip experience came shortly after news that his home was burgled by four men while his mother was held captive made headlines.
Inside The ‘GOOBA’ Rapper’s Previous Charges

6ix9ine is no stranger to dealings with the authorities, as he has several vices tied to his name. In 2019, he was convicted after pleading guilty to charges of joining and directing violence by a gang known as Trey Gangsta Bloods. The charges resulted in a sentence of two years behind bars; however, he did not serve the full time as he was released in April the following year.
The arist’s release came after he complained that his health was at stake due to the COVID-19 virus, which was fast spreading in prisons at the time. The Blast also covered that 6ix9ine was arrested in 2024, in New York, for violating the terms of his release on the 2019 felony charges. According to his probation officer, he had not gotten permission to travel and had also failed a number of drug tests.
The “Tattle Tales” rapper cut a deal with the prosecutors, which allowed him to serve only one month in federal prison and three months on house arrest. During the months of his house arrest, federal U.S. Probation officers, assisted by Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators, performed what they tagged a “probation check” at his residence.
From the search, 6ix9ine claimed they confiscated some guns and drugs and swabbed him for DNA to cross-reference with their investigations on the items they made away with. The artist has also been arrested in the Dominican Republic, accused of choking a teenage girl at a mall, and slammed with a child sexual performance charge in 2015.
Tekashi 6ix9ine Blew Face In The Media Over Edgy Joke

The rapper appeared on an episode of Andie Elle’s podcast last year, where he discussed cases of former child stars and drug use in the industry. During the conversation with the host, he brought up Demi Lovato, initially mistaking her for a Nickelodeon star. The comment he made, which sparked backlash, was after the podcast host told him the singer was clean. He said, “Nah, she is gonna relapse. I’ll send her some cocaine.”
Fans in the media called him out on the comment, stating that it was wrong to make light of serious topics and even suggest being part of another industry star’s relapse. 6ix9nine maintained that it was just a dark humor joke and that fans were being too sensitive. The Blast shared some netizens’ reactions to the rapper’s statement, with some claiming that he was seeking attention.
“This clown fell off years ago and is still trying to stay relevant,” a user wrote attached to a clip of him being beaten in a gym. “Demi: Clean, sober, and hot! 6ix9ine: who, ugly, toothless, stinky, and dirty!” another added. Others recalled how serious Lovato’s overdose was, noting that she almost died, while highlighting that it was overly insensitive for 6ix9ine to make jokes about someone’s life.
