Terry Crews‘ longtime partner, Rebecca King-Crews, is sharing a big update about her life.
The actor’s wife broke her silence about her hidden health battle in two exclusive interviews, revealing that it took a newly approved treatment to regain her lost spark.
Terry Crews and Rebecca King-Crews have been married for over three decades, tying the knot on July 29, 1989. They have since welcomed four daughters and one son.
Terry Crews’ Wife Was Diagnosed With A Neurodegenerative Disorder
The “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor’s wife first broke her silence about her hidden health battle on Monday, April 6, while appearing on the “TODAY” show. She revealed that she had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2015 after three years of concerning symptoms.
“I feel good,” Rebecca declared during the show, noting that she could write her name and dates with her “right hand for the first time in probably three years.” She explained that her symptoms began around 2012, with numbness in her left foot while working out.
The numbness eventually turned into a limp, with Rebecca’s doctor believing that she had been overworking her body. However, her personal trainer soon noticed something was amiss when Rebecca couldn’t swing her left arm as much as her right, per NBC News.
It Took A Parkinson’s Specialist To Recognize The Symptoms
Rebecca’s symptoms soon progressed to tremors, something she immediately recognized because her “grandmother had tremors.” Unfortunately, she remained undiagnosed because her doctor believed she was suffering from anxiety.
Then Rebecca turned to a neurologist for answers to no avail, and endured three years of concerning symptoms until a Parkinson’s specialist confirmed she had the neurodegenerative disorder. At the time of her diagnosis, Rebecca was working on multiple projects.
She revealed that she had been working on a book, an album, and a clothing line, claiming she kept herself busy instead of focusing on her shocking diagnosis. “I believe that you don’t lay down and die because you got a diagnosis,” Rebecca declared.
Rebecca King-Crews’ Condition Has Significantly Improved
Rebecca finally saw a glimmer of hope with the newly approved bilateral focused ultrasound treatment. The procedure was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last year and uses a device called Exablate Neuro to send ultrasound waves to specific areas on both sides of the brain.
Thanks to the treatment, the tremors on Rebecca’s right side are gone, and her balance has significantly improved, allowing her to walk normally again. Additionally, she could reduce the amount of medications she had been taking to cope with the neurodegenerative disorder.
Rebecca explained that she still had to take drugs because she had only used the treatment on her right side while the tremors on her left continued. She was “looking forward” to undergoing the procedure on her other side in September 2026.
How The Actor Played A Key Role In His Wife’s Recovery
Rebecca shared more light about her experience with Parkinson’s disease in a joint interview with her husband, Terry. The duo spoke to PEOPLE about how the actor had played an important role in her recovery, in addition to being a constant supporter.
Rebecca revealed the incident happened last year, recalling that she felt like she “wanted to die” after failing to sleep for three days. That morning, she had been on her knees beside her bed, praying for a miracle, when Terry walked in with good news about the ultrasound treatment.
“I’d been reading about this and researching it for ten years. I told her, ‘Honey, I really think this will help you,'” Terry recalled. His thoughts were right on the money as the newly approved treatment significantly improved the uncontrollable tremors Rebecca once had.
Terry Crews And His Wife Are Forever A Team
While addressing his wife’s health hurdles, Terry confessed that it was difficult watching Rebecca lose her spark because of the neurodegenerative disorder. He recalled how worn out she was by her condition, stressing that they went through the hard times “together.”
This wasn’t the first time their teamwork had gotten them through a challenging situation, with Terry echoing similar sentiments in 2022. At the time, he told Entertainment Tonight that he and Rebecca had worked together to help him overcome his addiction to porn.
Terry claimed he and Rebecca had gone on “a 90-day sex fast,” noting the period took him back to his innocent days. He also credited Rebecca for playing a key role in his recovery, applauding her for not judging his porn addiction and supporting him with love.
