“Saturday Night Live” isn’t easing up on Donald Trump anytime soon. In fact, the sketch comedy staple has been doubling down lately, taking everything from his press conferences to his late-night Truth Social posts for material, and turning his own words into some of the show’s sharpest punchlines. That trend continued in the latest episode, as anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che took aim at Donald Trump’s recent address on the war with Iran, along with a string of controversies swirling around him.
Colin Jost Roasts Trump’s Iran Speech With Brutal Punchlines

“Saturday Night Live” didn’t hold back during its latest “Weekend Update,” with Colin Jost diving headfirst into the political chaos and headline-making controversies.
Jost opened the segment by referencing President Donald Trump’s recent address on the war with Iran, joking that Trump threatened to “bring them back to the Stone Age, where they belong.” “And in the spirit of Easter,” Jost added. “Let me just say, Jesus Christ.”
Jost didn’t stop there, poking fun at the timing of Trump’s speech, which reportedly interrupted the finale of “The Masked Singer.” “It’s really too bad,” he quipped, “because Trump would have found out that Cat Witch was revealed to be the new Ayatollah.”
Colin Jost Goes Dark With Epstein Joke About Trump

The segment took a darker turn when Jost addressed Attorney General Pam Bondi’s reported firing over her handling of Epstein-related files. According to Jost, Donald Trump was upset because “the only person Trump has ever trusted to handle the Epstein situation is a prison guard with the cameras off.”
He doubled down with another jab, adding, “I kind of understand. I mean, if I was Trump, I’d be mad too if someone took a Sharpie and drew all over my favorite memories.”
Fans Say ‘SNL’ Doesn’t Even Need Writers Anymore

Viewers quickly flooded social media after the segment aired, with many pointing out that the current political climate is doing half the work for the writers. “Seriously, ‘SNL’ doesn’t even need to write the scripts anymore because the reality is even more absurd than anything they could make up!” one user commented, racking up hundreds of likes.
Others echoed that sentiment, suggesting that the show’s recent material feels almost effortless given the nonstop headlines. “I mean, at least they write incredible jokes and content for you every day,” another viewer added, hinting that real-life events are practically fueling the punchlines.
Segment Divides Fans As Reactions Turn Heated

While some fans praised the segment’s humor, others used the moment to vent their own frustrations about the current state of affairs. “Every single one of these was incredible,” one commenter wrote, applauding the jokes.
But not everyone was laughing. “Why America is tolerating this from a president I’ll never understand,” another user shared, while someone else questioned, “At this point, how is the US a real country?”
‘SNL’ Cold Open Goes Off The Rails With Pam Bondi Jab

Earlier in the episode, “Saturday Night Live” took an unexpected turn with its cold open, shifting away from its usual Donald Trump-focused setup and instead dropping viewers into a parody of an NCAA post-game show, complete with a surprise political twist.
Rather than portraying Donald Trump, cast member James Austin Johnson stepped into the role of sportscaster Ernie Johnson, joined by Kenan Thompson as Charles Barkley, Kam Patterson as Kenny Smith, and Jeremy Culhane as Coach Bruce Pearl.
But the sketch quickly veered off the rails when Barkley, played by Thompson, kept derailing the basketball analysis with political commentary. The sketch even went on to address the news surrounding Pam Bondi, with Kenan Thompson’s version of Charles Barkley once again derailing the sports talk to weigh in on her reported firing. “As attorney general, Pam Bondi was, and I don’t say this often, terrible,” Barkley said, catching the other panelists off guard.
He didn’t stop there. “It is a shame when somebody gets fired,” he continued, before delivering the punchline: “But we should all be glad that that freckle-chested dragon lady is gone.”
Donald Trump has not responded to the latest episode of “Saturday Night Live.”
