Jenny McCarthy has finally uncovered the real reason behind her repeated infections!

The TV personality, famously known for her days as a Playboy model, had to endure multiple surgeries in 2025.

Jenny McCarthy initially believed a deep bone infection had caused the health crisis. However, months later, she discovered her body was being damaged by something else.

McCarthy poured her heart out in the upcoming episode of Maria Menounos’ “Heal Squad” podcast. She recalled that the last time she appeared on the show, she had been on her way to a biological dentist after enduring “six months of living hell.”

A sneak peek at the episode covered by US Weekly saw McCarthy lamenting her situation and how the nightmare began with “an infected root canal.” She explained that the infection stemmed from the root canal not being “cleaned out all the way.”

The situation eventually led to McCarthy getting a jawbone infection with “three of these little toxic pools” hiding underneath her wisdom teeth. The dental problems only increased, with McCarthy later developing the “nastiest whitehead, puss-filled eraser top” growths on her eyes.

McCarthy noted that she had the growths on her eyes surgically removed, only for them to grow back four weeks later. She was stuck in a painful cycle of “oozing infection” in her eyes, infections in her mouth, and implant rejections.

After multiple surgeries, McCarthy’s doctor finally realized that there was something happening within the entertainer’s body and decided to dig deeper for the root cause. The doctor’s efforts finally uncovered the truth, revealing that the repeated infections came from mold.

“You have mycotoxin poisoning,” McCarthy recalled the doctor telling her. She explained that people with good immune systems could handle the toxins released by mold, unlike those with “leaky gut, candida,” things McCarthy was already struggling with.

McCarthy added that she escaped the worst-case scenario with mycotoxin poisoning, as mold toxicity could have led to even greater consequences. “I have a certain mold that causes seizures,” she revealed, noting her doctor told her that she could have ended up in the hospital.

As for why she kept having repeated infections despite treatments, McCarthy said, “I became antibiotic-resistant last year. The mycotoxins made me antibiotic resistant, so no wonder why infection, infection, infection.”

McCarthy first opened up about her health struggles last year. The Blast covered the story in November 2025, reporting that McCarthy revealed she had undergone “nine surgeries” on her mouth due to repeated infections.

According to McCarthy, her dental issues began with a failed ceramic dental implant, as her teeth kept falling out. She was then placed on antibiotics after doctors discovered a deep bone infection in her jawbone, but the infection never stopped.

McCarthy revealed that she ended up losing a ton of weight because her mouth was full of stitches and she could only eat soft foods. She flaunted her new figure in her family’s annual holiday card, raving about her excitement for the holidays.

The media personality has experienced a complicated relationship with food, recently revealing that she “literally almost died” after following a vegan diet. The Blast covered the story, reporting that McCarthy claimed she fell ill from being vegan and had to change her diet.

McCarthy shared that she had been diagnosed with Celiac disease. The condition, per Mayo Clinic, is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system reacts to gluten, sometimes causing damage to the small intestine.

Due to the condition, McCarthy had to be careful about what she ingested and opted for a vegan diet. After that failed, she went on a carnivore diet, which turned out to be the best option for her. McCarthy is no stranger to abandoning the things that no longer serve her.

In January 2026, The Blast reported that McCarthy had opened up about giving “The View” another chance. She revealed producers had contacted her to return to the show; however, going back was a hard pass. “I was like, over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place,” she said.
