The athlete’s children broke their silence nearly two decades after the reality star and ex-basketballer exchanged vows on television, just under 30 days after meeting each other.

Lamar Odom and Khloé Kardashian recently reunited on the sixth season of “The Kardashians,” in what she described as a final act of closing the chapter on that phase of her life.

The NBA alum’s kids spoke on the complicated relationship with their father during his wedding to Khloé, buttressing the fact that not all of them were in full support of the duo getting married. Lamar had revealed in his Netflix “Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom” that his baby mama essentially did not allow them to come for the ceremony. However, his son Lamar Odom Jr. affirmed in his confessional that he never got to meet Khloé before the wedding nor was informed of the ceremony.

As for his daughter, Destiny Odom, whom he shared with ex, Liza Morales, alongside LJ, she refused to attend the ceremony because she did not want to be a part of the cameras and charade at the event. Khloé’s wedding ceremony was aired on E! Television as a special edition of their series “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”

The former basketballer’s ex emphasized that she was hurt about the situation because watching Lamar move in with someone he met within a month in a very public ceremony did not feel so great. Lamar’s aunt offered a different perspective on the story, claiming that he explained to him how he wanted to build a better life through the connections he would make from marrying a Kardashian. As stated by US Weekly, he ended up only inviting his childhood best friend, Pumpkin.

Liza and Lamar were childhood sweethearts and had become engaged in their 20s while he ruled the NBA courts. As noted by The Blast, the couple shared hopes to get married in the foreseeable future with their three kids, who came along as the relationship went on. Unfortunately, the death of their son, Jayden, altered the course of the relationship in 2006, and three years later, Lamar and Khloé tied the knot, nine days after their engagement.

Liza revealed that as for their relationship ending, Lamar had sent her a text message informing her of his marriage to Khloé and then followed up with a phone call. She continued that it was hard to get past the hurt of it all because everywhere she went, it was all in her face.

In her words, “And then he got married on TV, and I couldn’t go to my local CVS pharmacy without seeing it all over the tabloids, and it was just always in my face, so it made it harder to heal.” These days, the former couple has found a way to work through their differences, and Liza revealed that there is no hate in her heart towards Lamar, only forgiveness, loads of it.

Liza, in her 2022 tell-all book, “Cutting Trauma Ties,” shared what it felt like dealing with the athlete and his addiction episodes. The same year, Liza clinched a $400,000 win after dragging Lamar to court for owing child support since 2020.

She stated that while she and the kids had to deal with the marriage and the drama publicly, there was another hidden layer of battles that had gone on for years, and it was his relationship with drugs. Liza continued that Lamar’s addiction did not start during his marriage to the Kardashian; it had been going on for years alongside some abuse issues.

The author added that she tried getting him to get to rehab and get a solution to his problems, but that did not work. Khloé had also admitted to trying so hard to help Lamar figure out his issues, but he would not receive the assistance, which was why she opted to leave the marriage. Liza further shared that she had stopped going to college when she discovered she was carrying Lamar’s baby as a teenager.

Liza and Lamar welcomed their first child, Destiny Odom, in 1998, a year before he was drafted into the NBA by the Los Angeles Clippers. Hollywood Life stated that he was a freshman basketball player at the University of Rhode Island when he became a father for the first time.

Lamar and Destiny’s relationship experienced a strange phase following his fatal overdose in 2015. However, in 2021, things got better with Destiny revealing that she calls him for life advice all the time. Four years after having Destiny, Liza and Lamar welcomed their second child, a boy, in 2002, who mostly kept away from the limelight. He publicly supported his father in his 2021 documentary, acknowledging that he was taking a leap toward accountability and healing since the overdose in 2015.

They, however, had a rough episode in 2019 when he expressed his frustration on television at his father getting engaged to Sabrina Parr without informing his family, yet again. Lamar and his son made up years later, and not so much has been heard about their dynamics since then. The NBA alum and Liza welcomed a third child in 2005, but lost him six months later to sudden infant death syndrome while asleep in his crib. Jayden Odom’s death resulted in Lamar and Liza’s split and the former basketballer leaning on hard drugs to get past the pain.

The former basketballer revealed more details about meeting with his ex-wife about a decade after finalizing their divorce. The Blast shared that during the emotional session, things did not exactly go so smoothly, and he felt like he was under attack. Khloé and Lamar’s highly anticipated meeting happened at Malika Haqq’s home, where the former couple got real and raw about their feelings.

The former NBA athlete continued that despite feeling this way, it does not mean Khloé’s pain over the years was insignificant, especially while they were married. Lamar added that the Good American founder was very kind to him, especially when he was recovering from the coma and damage due to his drug overdose.

The former basketballer continued that the mother-of-two will remain a special person in his life, but there may be no future for them when it comes to ever getting back together. As for Khloé, meeting and marrying Lamar in 30 days was as real as it could be for her, adding that the former basketballer was her one true love.
