Nancy Grace Offers Heartfelt Support To Savannah Guthrie Amid Mother’s Disappearance

Nancy Grace is offering heartfelt support to Savannah Guthrie following the anchor’s first televised interview about the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
Speaking in a preview of the March 31 episode of “Hang Out With Sean Hannity,” Grace reflected on the emotional moment Savannah apologized to her missing mother through tears, as though she were somehow responsible. The scene, Grace said, brought back painful memories of her own past.
She recalled the 1979 murder of her fiancé, Keith Griffin, explaining how the tragedy left her overwhelmed with grief and searching for words that never came.
The loss ultimately shaped her path into criminal justice and her lifelong advocacy for victims and their families.
Recalling the moment, Grace described: “When my fiancé was murdered, I didn’t even want to say words. I felt like going out in the dark, in the woods, and just howling like an animal. I didn’t have words to say. It was so awful — not just losing him, but to violent crime. Stupid, senseless — for what? For nothing!”
Nancy Grace Defends Guthrie Family Amid Criticism, Questions Ransom Claims

Grace also addressed criticism aimed at the Guthrie family, defending how they’ve handled the situation. “There’s no script for what you’re supposed to do,” she said, pushing back at those questioning their decisions.
She added that Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, did “everything they were physically able to do at that moment.”
While authorities have not confirmed whether any ransom was paid, Grace suggested that it may not have happened, pointing to the lack of proof of life.
“You and I knew at the beginning something was off, in that the ransom was not requested immediately,” she explained, per Us Weekly. “You take somebody — you want to feed them for a week and then ask for the money? No. You want the money, then you want it to be over with — you want to get the hell out of town.”
Savannah Guthrie Opens Up About Guilt And Uncertainty In First Interview About Missing Mother

Savannah, 54, recently sat down with Hoda Kotb ahead of her return to the Today show on April 6.
During the emotional, two-part interview, she opened up about the moment she realized her mother had gone missing from her home in Tucson after failing to attend her usual church service on February 1.
As she reflected on those early hours, Savannah admitted her thoughts quickly turned inward. She revealed that she asked her brother, Camron, a painful question: “Do you think it’s because of me?” whether her public profile and perceived wealth could have made their mother a target.
While there is still no confirmed motive, she said the possibility has been difficult to ignore, even as the family remains without answers. “We still don’t know anything,” she admitted.
Although there is still no confirmed motive, she said the possibility has been difficult to ignore.
“I hope not. I mean, we still don’t know. Honestly, we don’t know anything,” Savannah said. “So I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom and somebody thought, ‘Oh, that lady has money, we can make a quick buck.’ I mean, that would make sense, but we don’t know.”
Savannah Guthrie Breaks Down In Emotional Plea For Missing Mother: ‘I Will Not Hide My Face’

The interview grew even more emotional as she held back tears, apologizing to her mother and loved ones, and expressing deep regret over the idea that her life in the spotlight might have played a role.
Sitting beside Kotb, both women became visibly emotional as Savannah spoke about feeling responsible, extending her apology to her siblings, children, and extended family.
Savannah also made a heartfelt plea for help, urging anyone with information to come forward.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” the journalist said. “And to think of what she went through… I wake up every night in the middle of the night… and in the darkness I imagine her terror.”
Despite the anguish, Savannah made it clear she will not step back from the public eye. She remains determined to keep attention on her mother’s case, holding onto hope that answers will come and that her mother will be safely brought home. “I will not hide my face. She needs to come home now,” she said.
Savannah Guthrie Vows To Stay Strong For Her Kids

Since the news of her mother’s disappearance broke, many have raised concerns about Savannah’s mental health.
Seemingly addressing these concerns during her chat with Kotb, she vowed not to “fall apart” for the sake of her kids.
“I will do it for my kids,” she said, referencing her daughter Vale and son Charles. “I will not let whoever did this take my children’s mom away.”
This led her to recall how her mother became a pillar of strength for her and her siblings following the death of their father.
“She taught me,” the NBC star stated. “I saw her grief, I saw her world shatter — but I saw her get up, saw her love, saw her faith.”
“She taught all of us,” Savannah said. “I may not do it as well as her, but I will do it.”
