Rob Schneider is facing major backlash after sharing his latest political take, and this time, it’s striking a nerve. The comedian took to social media over the weekend with a controversial suggestion that quickly went viral, calling for the United States to reinstate the military draft. The proposal, which hasn’t been in place since 1973, immediately sparked heated reactions online, especially since Rob Schneider seemingly never served himself.
Rob Schneider Calls For Mandatory Service At 18

In a lengthy post shared to X (formerly Twitter), Schneider made his stance clear. “We must once again recommit ourselves to one nation under god, indivisible. Therefore, we must restore the military draft for our nation’s young people,” he wrote.
He went on to propose a sweeping requirement for all Americans. “Each and every American, at eighteen years of age, must serve two years of military service. They could also choose to serve part of that time overseas or in country in a volunteer capacity,” he continued.
Schneider framed the idea as a way to reinforce national unity and responsibility.
‘Freedom Comes With A Cost,’ Schneider Says

The actor also defended his position by emphasizing the responsibilities that come with citizenship. “Being a citizen of the United States gives us unparalleled freedoms and opportunities that are the envy of the world,” he continued. “However, these freedoms that we cherish do not come without a cost.”
His remarks quickly gained traction online, drawing both support and strong criticism. “Ignore him, he’s been off his meds for decades,” one user bluntly wrote, while another said, “He is so cringe and has never been funny, absurd clown.”
A third expressed, “That’s easy for you to say, you’re past the age of recruitment, and you have no son to be recruited. So Rob, why don’t you stay in your lane?”
Rob Schneider Doubles Down With Additional Posts Over The Weekend

Schneider didn’t stop at his initial comments about reinstating the draft, as he continued sharing a series of posts over the weekend that further fueled the conversation.
In one message, he wrote, “Don’t hold your breath waiting for Democrats to admit they BEHAVED like TYRANTS during COVID…. FIRING FRONT LINE DOCTORS and NURSES for refusing to take the EXPERIMENTAL GENE THERAPY.”
He also amplified commentary from others, including a post that read, “Lots of talk but the truth is many of you got duped into acting like p-ssy cowards because of Covid, and now you are too ashamed to admit that you were wrong.”
In another post, Schneider added, “Fact Checked,” while sharing a message that stated, “Only in a democratic country without a king, like America, are the rights of all people, including disgruntled losers, protected, allowing those who lost at the ballot box to protest against a democratically elected president.”
Comments Come Amid Growing Political Tensions

Schneider’s remarks also arrive at a time of heightened political discussion surrounding military service. Recent comments from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt have added to the conversation, as she declined to rule out the possibility of a military draft amid rising tensions with Iran.
“As commander in chief, there’s no greater priority or responsibility to this president than, of course, protecting the American people and our troops and bases in the Middle East, which Iran has been threatening for 47 years. They have killed and maimed thousands of American soldiers,” she said during a recent appearance on Fox News.
.
Leavitt added that Trump “was not going to allow Iran to attack our bases and our troops and our men and women in the Middle East first. And that’s why he took historic action by launching ‘Operation Epic Fury.’ “
Elle King Previously Called Out Dad Rob Schneider

As the backlash grew, some critics pointed to Schneider’s personal life, including his strained relationship with his daughter, country singer Elle King.
King has previously spoken out about their relationship, making it clear she doesn’t always agree with her father’s views. “’I disagree with a lot of the things that he says,” she said during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s “Dumb Blonde” podcast.
Schneider later addressed their relationship publicly, offering an apology. “’I wish I was the father in my 20s that you needed. I clearly wasn’t, and I hope you can forgive me for my shortcomings,” he said.
