Former 'Fleetwood Mac'band member, Lindsey Buckingham, has responded to Kristen Messner's divorce petition, and the rock star is asking a judge to deny his ex-wife spousal support after 21 years of marriage.  The singer is also requesting joint legal and physical custody of his 17-year-old daughter, Stella.

In court documents obtained by The Blast, Lindsey Buckingham says he and his ex, Kristen, separated on June 3, 2021, just ONE day after his she filed legal documents to end their marriage. Both Kristen and Lindsey are claiming irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split and Lindsey is requesting that they both foot their own bill for their attorney's fees.

As for the assets and personal effects of the former couple, they will most likely rely on their prenuptial agreement.  Lindsey Buckingham states in his response that "all assets, earnings, accumulations, and debts acquired by the parties after the date of marriage and before the date of separation, the exact extent and nature of which are unknown to respondent at this time". In other words, he is reserving the right to amend this response and that their division of property and asset can be dealt with as they work out their settlement.

The legendary rocker and his ex share two other adult children together, and their daughter Stella is almost 18.  A custody dispute will probably be the least of their worries.  If the former couples' prenuptial agreement is as ironclad as it should be, determining and dividing their community property should be fairly simple.  However, due to their lengthy marriage, they may need some time to divide their estate.

As we previously reported, Kristen Messner filed to end her marriage with the legendary rocker on June 2, 2021 , and it’s unclear what issues the couple had prior to the divorce.  Lindsey Buckingham and 'Fleetwood Mac' made several albums before he married his ex-wife, and his financial success in the music business, as well as he and his family's standard of living, could come in to play when determining if his ex-wife Kristen can maintain her comfortable lifestyle.  Spousal support is not guaranteed, and sometimes a judge can award an equalization payment as part of an overall settlement.

The former couple called it quits after two decades together, and Lindsey Buckingham's recent album may shed some light on what happened to his marriage and what's going on in his life.  In true 'Fleetwood Mac' fashion, the former singer is dealing with some drama in his personal life, and the songs do all of the talking!  Interestingly, Lindsey actually announced his latest solo album TODAY, just hours before his divorce became public.  The first single from the album is entitled, ‘I Dont’ Mind,’ and we are guessing a bit of the music may be inspired by the rock star’s personal life.
