The remaining members of beloved pop and R&B group TLC are set to hit the road for a highly anticipated tour with Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue. However, amid promoting the upcoming string of concert dates, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is coming under fire for a controversial post she reshared about former first lady Michelle Obama. Plus, it’s been reported that she secretly donated to various republican causes in 2024.
Now, she is clarifying the report and subtly alluding to her political donations while denouncing MAGA.
TLC’s Chilli Says She Supported The Obamas

On March 28, TMZ shared a clip of Chilli discussing the controversy over the Obama post in which the former First Lady was accused of being a man. She said in the video, “I wanted to come on here to address a few things that’s circulating on the internet that’s very concerning to me.”
The singer continued by saying that she has “the utmost respect and admiration for Michelle Obama.” Chilli went on to claim that she would never disrespect her and that she has supported various causes that Obama has championed, including her school fitness program.
Additionally, the TLC member stated that she wouldn’t treat any woman the way she’s being accused of doing over the accidental resharing of the controversial post.
The Singer Explained How She Reshared The Post

From there, Chilli went on to give her side of the situation with the post. She said, “I had no clue that this repost had happened until I started getting phone calls and text messages from everybody, and I immediately went to my page to see what was going on.”
The singer and reality star went on to say that she’s “not very computer savvy.” She then blamed resharing the post, criticizing the placement of the reshare button on the platform, which was too close to the other options.
According to her, “And clearly I was scroling and my thumb hit the repost button. Again, I had no clue that something like this happened until I got all the calls, but of course, I took that down.”
After that, Chilli reiterated, “I would never post anything like that. I would never do something like that. That is not my character.”
Near the end, Chilli stated that she gave to both of Barack Obama‘s campaigns and voted for him both times. Regarding her other donations, the singer claims to have always supported veterans.
Chilli also posted a statement to X in which she said, “I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people.”
Chilli Reportedly Supported MAGA Causes

The Independent reviewed FEC records in March 2026 that show Chilli allegedly donating to the Trump campaign in 2024. They show that the “No Scrubs” singer donated $210.60 to WinRed, which processes donations for republican campaigns.
Additionally, she donated $340.60 to the Trump National Committee JFC and $486.54 to Never Surrender Inc., which is a political fundraising group with ties to the Trump campaign. It has also been reported that Chilli made a small donation to Ted Cruz in 2024.
Fans Are Reacting

Chilli has received a ton of backlash over the resharing of the post and her political donations. This is so much the case that her explanation isn’t satisfying TLC fans. One person said on Instagram, “Repost was a mistake. Donating was DELIBERATE.”
Someone else wrote, “She only explained this because she got exposed for supporting MAGA.” A different TLC fan stated, “There are several veterans foundations/ charities.. Bye.”
Another person said, “There are a million ways you could’ve donated to Veterans without having to donate to the Trump Campaign!! You’re truly full of shit!! Now you want to cry wolf!! You’re such a POS, and full of sh-t!!”
Finally, an X user said, “And I seriously doubt she cares about Vets. Been following her since the 90s, and never once has she spoken out for Vets. If she wanna save face, she should show donations she made to the two Obama presidencies so she can be like, ‘Look, guys, I’m a Democrat.'”
They Announced The Tour In March

According to PEOPLE, TLC announced on their upcoming tour, “It’s Iconic,” on March 23. Not only does it feature the remaining members of TLC, but R&B legends En Vogue and female rap pioneers Salt-N-Pepa are also joining the tour, which begins in August with a stop in Tennessee before ending in October.
