Joseph Duggar‘s child sex abuse case is going to Florida, and he has agreed to it.
The 31-year-old has appeared in court for the first time since he was arrested on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and he has also agreed to be extradited to the state where he allegedly committed the crime.
Joseph Duggar’s arrest comes years after his brother, Josh Duggar, was accused of acting inappropriately with five girls, including his sisters, and is now serving time in federal prison.
Joseph Duggar’s First Court Appearance Was Virtual
Joseph appeared in court virtually on Friday, March 20, 2026, where he waived his right to an extradition hearing, which means he has agreed to be extradited to Florida, where he reportedly assaulted his victims. Jail authorities in Florida have been given 30 days to fetch Joseph from his cell in Arkansas.
Another footage from Joseph’s case showed him being processed for admission at the Washington County jail. The reality star was arrested in Tontitown, Arkansas, and subsequently charged with lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor after a 14-year-old detailed her experiences with the actor during a family vacation in 2020, when she was just 9.
As shared by TMZ, his charges nailed him, who is well over 18, for being involved in the molestation of a victim younger than 12.
The Father-Of-Three Is Tucked Away Safely In Jail
The actor is reportedly very safe in his Arkansas jail, as he was placed in a secure area of the Washington County Jail, where he waits for his extradition to Bay County, Florida, to take place. As reported by The Blast, a supervising corporal at the facility reiterated that Joseph is on the priority list for safety, as they all understand how dangerous jail can be for the inmates.
Joseph is reportedly secluded from other inmates due to the nature of his case as any compromise in safety may result in very grave consequences. All hands are reportedly on deck, from the jail staff to authorities who have placed Joseph under constant watch with hourly checks.
Cameras looking directly into the cell are not present in the Arkansas jail due to the privacy laws. Still, the officials on duty are reportedly wearing body cameras to ensure that no one harms Joseph in jail, even himself.

Joseph reportedly admitted to committing the crime before his accuser’s father and the local authorities after a 14-year-old accused him of sexually abusing her in Florida. According to the victim, she was 9 years old at the time during her family vacation in Panama City Beach in 2020, where Joseph allegedly assaulted her.
Joseph’s accuser reportedly told the cops that he offered her a seat with him on a couch, where he proceeded to touch her inappropriately through her underwear and rubbed his hands on her thighs. The alleged victim reportedly confirmed to the cops that it was not a one-off occurrence, as the actor repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap.
Authorities from the Tontitown Police Department got involved in the case on March 16 after a confrontation between Joseph and the girl’s father. In December 2021, Joseph’s brother, Josh, was convicted and sentenced to prison for knowingly receiving and having child pornography in his possession.

Jill Duggar, sister to Josh and Joseph, released a public statement on Thursday, March 19, to publicly condemn the alleged act of her brother via her family’s blog. As noted by The Blast, Jill registered her shock to learn of Joseph’s arrest, adding that their first knowledge of anything related to his charges was obtained through a text from a family friend.
“We strongly condemn abuse. We support the rule of law and hope that justice will be achieved,” Jill wrote in the comments, revealing that her husband, Derick Dillard, is equally shocked to learn of Joseph’s alleged act. She sent her best regards to the victim’s family, praying that she gets the strength and courage to find all the help and support she needs and deserves to get to a healthier place in the coming days.
Jill concluded the statement by professing her undying love for Joseph’s wife, Kendra, and her nieces and nephews, who would be absolutely gutted to learn about the trouble their father just got into. She attached lines from two bible verses to her statement and hoped that Kendra and the kids would feel the love and support from the rest of the family in these trying times.

Since his arrest, the family has received notable attention from the public, who have tried to connect the dots. Joseph’s wife’s Instagram account was quickly spotted, and fans noticed she had stepped away from engaging the page since 2021.
Kendra’s disappearance from her Instagram account reportedly happened nearly one year after Joseph allegedly molested the minor in Florida. The couple seemingly continued to post content on the account months after the alleged abuse and even shared the news of the arrival of their third child, Brooklyn Praise Duggar, in February 2021.
The account abruptly stopped posting after November 3, 2021, right around their child Addison’s second birthday. Kendra’s Instagram was often filled with images of their kids celebrating birthdays and several family holidays.
