Gabrielle Union got the chop-chop!
The 48-year-old actress showed off her new look on Friday, July 23. She proudly posed with much shorter hair in a beautiful spaghetti strap dress and a bold red lip. Gabby went from long locks that reached down to the small of her lower back to a short, wavy hairdo that calls attention to her flawless skin and beautiful face. She anticipated the stereotypical response but got ahead of it in the caption of her post.
“So, I did a thing 🤗 The movies always show women cutting their hair when all is lost but I wanted to know the feeling of making a change when things are gravy. It hits different and its foreign to me but I ❤❤❤ this new new,” Union wrote alongside her ‘do showoff pics.
The “Bring It On” star hilariously geotagged her location as “The Big Chop.”

The fact that the stunning actress was fully glam helped sell the new haircut. She was accessorized with large, gold hoop earrings and a few chic gold necklaces that complimented the short look. Her fans flooded the comments section with praise.
“Ooooo baby I love this 😍😍😍😍😍,” La La Anthony wrote, while Nicole Murphy said, “I love it 🥰 🔥 you look beautiful.”

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Unfortunately, Gabby is right when it comes to the hair chop stereotype, and women face a double standard when it comes to short hair. The best/most famous example has to be when Britney Spears shaved her head in 2007. The hairy situation was one of the reasons Britney was put under a conservatorship… something she’s been trying to get out of for 12-years.
It’s kind of sad that Gabrielle felt the need to clarify her hair-raising actions, but let’s focus on how great she looks!
