It seems RFK Jr. will never hear the end of Chelsea Handler‘s complaint over selling her a house.
The comedian opened up about a shocking revelation she had after moving into a home she’d spent about five years fixing, since dropping millions of dollars on it in 2021.
Chelsea Handler has stories for days about her real estate wins and losses, including a terrible financial mistake: turning her five-bedroom property into a two-bedroom home to curb family visits.
Chelsea Handler Laments ‘Chlamydia, Measles, And Herpes’ About RFK Jr.’s Former Home

Handler bought the home for $5.9 million in 2021 and had to embark on a comprehensive renovation of its foundation, along with the removal of an illegal outdoor storage space, after a failed inspection. All this while, Handler claimed she had no idea who the former owners of the home were because she got in based on blind trust. In her words to Jimmy Kimmel on March 17:
“The house feels like I bought it from RFK Jr. It took me four years to move in. So there were a lot of problems with the house. I blame him.”
Handler then joked that the house infected her with some sexually transmitted diseases like “chlamydia, measles, and herpes.” She revealed that RFK Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, had sent her a note, thanking her for buying their house and asking her not to hesitate to reach out to them for help in any way.
Handler noted that if there were anyone, she would have urged people to avoid his property; it would have been Robert F. Kennedy Jr. As noted by The Daily Mail, the media personality stressed that every time she has had to hang around a Kennedy in the past, something terrible happens.
Handler Claimed Her Home Inspector Gave A Disturbing Verdict On The House

Handler had earlier spoken about the issues going on with the home on an earlier episode of her podcast. The Blast noted that she slammed the couple, adding that the home failed to earn a decent score from a home inspector who described it as “the most toxic environment.”
She continued that it was hilarious to see that the person in charge of the health of the United States (RFK Jr’s office as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) stayed in a home without a proper foundation.
Handler added that at least three people had told her the home was cursed, but she had no idea all through the buying process because everything was kept under wraps and hidden from her. She was equally displeased with the note Hines sent her, especially after discovering she would have to withdraw a lot of money from her account to fix the structural mistake.
The Media Personality Addressed The Illegal Outdoor Storage Bit

Handler, on her podcast, continued to reveal several complex layers of the home as the renovations intensified. As noted by The Blast, she discovered an illegal addition to the property that raised concerns during the last week of inspection.
Handler added that when the inspector entered the property, they saw that everything had been redone except for one small outdoor storage unit that had been on the property since she acquired it.
The comedian continued that, upon hearing the word “Illegal” and that it applied to her property, she became frustrated because it also meant she had to remove that particular structure after spending a whole lot on the previous renovations. She wondered why RFK Jr. could not catch such a crucial defect upon the first inspection of the property.
Chelsea Handler Expressed Regret Over A Real Estate Mistake

The former E! News star confessed in 2025 that she once thought converting her five-bedroom home into a three-bedroom apartment would deter her family members from constantly flooding her home. The comedian noted that her family was too comfortable and would overstay their welcome, and she knew she had to do something about that.
So she decided to convert the home and make it smaller, to push her loved one to leave early, but the whole thing came back to bite her in the ass because when it was time to sell the home, she could not make any money. Handler eventually had to reconvert the home into a five- bedroom, thus draining more money than projected from her bank account.
The comedian had sold the Bel Air property for $10.5 million in 2021 and moved into an $18,000-per-month rental home in the same neighborhood. The rental was described as a five-bedroom and four-bath property with a Zen theme. It incorporated a well-balanced indoor-outdoor flow, park-like grounds, a courtyard, and a detached casita to the main house.
Inside Chelsea Handler’s Expansive Former Bel Air Home

The TV personality’s home in Bel Air, as described by her during a home tour in 2019, was an extension of her lifestyle of soft, clean, and contemporary vibes. As stated by PEOPLE, Handler noted that she tore the entire house apart to give it a feel of California outdoors, but housed in a building.
The home boasted six bedrooms, along with several built-in features, making it perfect for some of Handler’s guilty pleasures, such as her friends coming over and doing “mushroom,” with a view to go with it. Handler continued that her favorite spot in the home was her bedroom, where she spent most of her time lounging.
From meditation to sleeping, eating breakfast, and even doing interviews, the star noted that a lot goes on in her bedroom. Sometimes, the media personality also takes time away from the main bedroom and indulges in the comfort of the bunk beds in her guest bedroom.
