The actress’s backstage episode finally got the attention of the security company, which has come forward to apologize and take responsibility for the conduct of their staff towards the actress.
Teyana Taylor lost out in her “Best Supporting Actress” category at the recently concluded Oscars, but her movie clinched the best picture award, ending the night on an encouraging note for the star.
Teyana Taylor’s Security Situation Will Be Handled Behind The Scenes
The ceremony’s security company, Security Industry Specialists, shared its side of the story in a statement, clarifying that things became tense when the security staff was trying to manage the crowded area and prioritize guests’ safety. The company noted that an incidental contact between their staff and Taylor happened, and the regretful situation unfortunately escalated.
The company admitted that such an act of professionalism was far from what was expected from the team, and the matter has been addressed internally to ensure it never happens again. TMZ reported that the Academy also issued its apology to Taylor, who they claimed had worked with them over the last several months during the awards season, and had shown them immense support and kindness.
“Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS…We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable. We want to thank Teyana for showing remarkable grace, and we are taking the appropriate measures to ensure this does not happen again,” the Academy concluded.

The Blast shared that a video began circulating showing the actress in a crowded hallway in the Dolby Theatre, looking visibly upset as she pointed to someone behind the camera and raised her voice. Taylor had accused a man of allegedly getting physical with her as she tried to find her way in the crowded space.
The actress could be heard chastising the man for putting his hands on a female, looking visibly frustrated as witnesses nearby appeared very interested in the exchange. Taylor insisted that the security agent was really rude and declared she was far from impressed with what had just happened.
The musician emphasized that the security person shoved her and also did the same to another woman other than herself. She warned whoever harbored the thoughts of crossing the set boundary to drop such an idea and not touch her.

Right after the incident, Taylor declared that people should not make assumptions about the way she reacted, because the fact remains that she would not tolerate disrespect, especially when it is unwarranted and unprovoked.
As shared by Page Six, the actress affirmed that there is nothing to wonder about, as everybody had a good time at the show, but the security was doing a bit too much. An eyewitness explained the situation, revealing that Taylor had come down to get Warner Bros film executives, Pam Abdy and Mike DeLuca, for a group photo on the stage.
However, a security guard tried to stop her from proceeding, subsequently putting his hands on her. The security guard allegedly told Taylor that she owed him an apology, which instantly made the actress very angry. On the brighter side, Taylor’s film won six out of 13 nominations, becoming the biggest winner of the night.

In January, the star addressed the criticism surrounding her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills, which had moviegoers saying she was oversexualized and fed into the stereotype surrounding Black women.
She explained in her interview with Vanity Fair that, as much as she would not like to be heard, the film honestly addressed the harsh reality that is happening. As noted by The Blast, she recalled someone having an opinion about Perfidia and how people felt she was too horny.
“And I’m like, do you realize the first thing we see of Perfidia is her having a gun to a guy’s head, and he calls her sweet thing? Are you – are we watching the same film?” Taylor stated. She noted that instead of having other people take advantage of her, her character in the film put her sexuality to good use and had her way.
