Following a judge’s dismissal of her emergency custody request, Barbara broke her silence in a recent statement. She stressed that her efforts to regain custody of her grandson won’t stop anytime soon, as she’s ready for a war against Jenelle.
“It doesn’t matter that it was denied, because I’m going to court on March 23 for a temporary custody hearing. The evidence will be presented then,” Barbara told TMZ. She added that the evidence backing her custody claims will be provided by Jace’s father, Andrew Lewis.
According to court documents obtained by the outlet, Barbara had filed a motion seeking full custody of the 16-year-old. Sources with knowledge about the incident noted that she did so behind Jenelle’s back, and the motion was immediately shut down.

Jace, the teenager involved in the custody battle, has reportedly been checked into a mental health hospital following a shocking incident with his grandmother. Sources familiar with the situation told the outlet that the concerning incident had occurred on February 22, 2026.
The authorities were called to Barbara’s North Carolina home for a “troubled teen disturbance,” with a police report revealing that seven officers had responded to the call for help. At the time, Jenelle’s rep refused to comment on the situation because it involved confidential matters.
The outlet later revealed that sources claimed Barbara alleged that Jace had gotten hold of a firearm, pointed it at his head, and threatened to kill himself alongside his grandmother.
