Privacy was held in high regard at Mary Cosby‘s son’s funeral ceremony.
The event reportedly had no media coverage in respect for the family’s decision to mourn their loss with close family and friends. The entertainer’s son’s death pulled a crowd of support from the cast of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” as well as other stars.
Mary Cosby’s 23-year-old son passed away on February 23, 2026, amid his struggles with drug addiction. He had appeared on the “RHOSLC” screens in recent seasons, where he admitted his history and battle with substance abuse.
Privacy Was Top Priority At Mary Cosby‘s Son’s Funeral
Cynthia Bailey recalled Robert Jr’s funeral on the 69th episode of her “Humble Brag” podcast, but did not share in-depth details in respect of her friend’s privacy. She revealed that when Mary asked her to come, she did not think twice about saying yes. The “RHOA” star added that the event was not televised, as there were no cameras in sight from the attendees or a video coverage crew.
“It wasn’t filmed. There were no cameras anywhere, and people gave their phones; it just was a real private moment. I was really glad that I went. I was really, really glad that I went,” she said on her podcast. Bailey disclosed that she had also sent flowers to her on-screen sister to express her condolences after the 23-year-old’s passing.
Speaking further, she explained that besides wanting to support the grieving mom of one, she put herself in Mary’s shoes, and this fueled her decision to attend the funeral. The podcaster said that something about the loss resonated with her, as she is also a mother of one. “What really hit me hard was, this is her one and only,” Bailey explained. “When you just have one, it all goes into that one little human.”
‘RHOSLC’ Pumped Mary With Support During Her Son’s Funeral
One thing the ‘Real Housewives’ have stamped on their backs is support for one another in times of need. The stars of the reality TV show turned up to support their friends as she said goodbye to her only son, Robert Jr. Bailey from “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” who also attended the funeral, could not help but comment on the love and support all the castmates showed for Mary.
Bailey described the memorial as a “real” moment between the “RHOSLC” stars, saying she really saw the representation of love and sisterhood among the stars. “We do these shows, and it’s all this drama, and you have to be prepared to go up and down with these people, sideways, fall out, be cool. It’s just a different mindset when you have a relationship with women whom you mostly met because of a show. But I love how it actually crosses over into a real sisterhood, too,” the “RHOA” star explained.
She expressed how glad she was to attend the event and witness the support that Mary received from her cast, adding how happy their presence made the grieving TV star. “The Housewives, we support each other on a different level when something happens to one of us, and I love that about Housewives,” Bailey noted.
Cynthia Bailey Was One Of The Many ‘Real Housewives’ In Attendance

The funeral, which was held on Saturday, March 7, had a good number of Bravos stars in attendance. Andy Cohen shared the names of the stars who were present at the ceremony on an episode of “Radio Andy Live” two days after.
Fellow Real Housewives of Salt Lake City stars such as Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, Bronwyn Newport, Angie Katsanevas, and Britani Bateman showed up to pay their respects. “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards and “RHOA” alum Sheree Whitfield were also present.
The Blast reported that three days after Robert Jr’s death, Cohen sent a poignant condolence message to Mary and her family. He reflected on the “unconditional love” he had witnessed between the mother and son and praised the TV personality for taking the brave step to share her son’s story in front of the cameras.
“Mary, you did such a good job. I know their bravery and their vulnerability in sharing their story has helped and will continue to help countless people who are struggling. Rest in peace, Robert Jr., and thanks,” the Bravo boss said.
Robert Cosby Jr. Was In The Midst Of Legal Troubles Before His Passing
The media personality’s son was known to struggle with substance abuse, as he admitted this during a candid conversation with his mom on the reality TV show. About twenty days before his death, Robert Jr. was released from jail and placed on a strict probation order for 24 months.
He was required to wear an ankle monitor at all times after receiving a suspended sentence of 180 days. In addition to that, he was asked to report regularly to his probation officer and frequently undergo tests for substance abuse, anger management, and mental health.
As shared by The Blast, Mary’s son was to stay off possible locations where drugs are used or sold and strictly instructed to avoid using, possessing, or consuming any controlled substance. All these came as a result of a felony domestic violence and aggravated assault case from an incident that allegedly occurred in 2024.
Mary Cosby Will Be Back On ‘RHOSLC’ For The Next Season
Contrary to widespread speculations that the reality TV star will be stepping away from the cameras, Mary had decided it’s best for her schedule to return to normal as soon as possible. After her son’s death made headlines, it was assumed that the star would be sitting out on filming for the upcoming season seven to deal with her grief.
Insiders close to production share that for Mary, returning to the show is a way to maintain structure as she navigates through this difficult time. She is not letting Robert Jr’s death rock her world; however, there is reportedly no pressure from production on her plate.
The Blast shared that to show respect to the TV star and her family, the Bravo show and its crew decided to delay filming initially, allowing Mary and her fellow stars to deal with their pain. It has not been confirmed if the star’s son’s sudden death and burial will be featured on the new season, although there is a high possibility that he cast reacting to the news of the loss of their pal’s son will be televised.
RIP to Mary Cosby’s son!
