Moroz Once Fought With Ukraine On Her Mind
Moroz has previously shown remarkable resilience inside the Octagon while dealing with deeply personal challenges outside of it.
In 2022, the Ukrainian fighter stepped back into the cage on the prelims of UFC 272 as her home country faced the devastating reality of Russia’s invasion. Despite entering the bout as a slight underdog against Mariya Agapova, Moroz came out aggressively from the start.
By the second round, Moroz had clearly seized control of the action. She took the fight to the ground, advanced her position, and ultimately secured an arm-triangle choke, forcing the submission victory in dominant fashion.

“My family is in Ukraine,” Moroz said. “I had a hard week. I worried, I cried, because my family is right now in a bad situation. Thank you to everyone who messaged me, supported me, because this week was hard for me. I wanted to cry because of this war my country is in.”

She added that the emotional toll of the situation weighed heavily on her throughout the week.
“I have a lot of pressure. All this week I feel nervous, I cried. I tried to focus. Many people don’t know, but it was really hard for me,” she continued. “I see in Ukraine how terrible the situation is. It was really my heart almost crying. But I did it. I focused and I did fight.”
Maryna Moroz Currently Without A Fight As Suspension Continues
Moroz has not yet announced her next fight as she continues to serve a suspension under the UFC’s anti-doping program.
Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) previously revealed that the Ukrainian fighter tested positive for meldonium in two separate drug tests. The samples were collected on June 25, 2025, and July 16, 2025, and both returned positive results for the substance, which is banned at all times under the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy administered by CSAD.
