Swanepoel Says Victoria’s Secret Show Reminds Her Of Her Power
Swanepoel has spent nearly two decades walking in the iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but she admits the experience still carries a powerful emotional impact.
The 37-year-old supermodel recently opened up in an interview with Us Weekly ahead of the brand’s star-studded runway event in Brooklyn, New York, reflecting on what it means to represent the legendary lingerie brand.
“For somebody that’s been [walking in the show] for so many years, I’m happy to still be here,” Swanepoel said, noting she made her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut in 2007. “To be here and representing the brand and representing femininity and [be] in my powerful feminine world, which we don’t always get to do.”
Candice Swanepoel Admits She Doesn’t Always Feel ‘Gorgeous’ Off The Runway
Despite her confidence on the runway, Swanepoel admitted she doesn’t always feel that same sense of glamour in everyday life. “Like today, we’re these powerful, gorgeous women, and in my day-to-day life, I don’t feel like that,” she explained. “It really represents, like, reminding myself of my power.”
Even after years of experience walking the runway, Swanepoel said the nerves never fully disappear. “I don’t think it ever goes away,” she admitted. “I always want to do my best, and each year I get more nervous, to be honest.”
Still, the model says the excitement outweighs the jitters, sharing her simple pre-show mantra of “Just breathe through it and try to have fun.”
Swanepoel Says Staying Bikini-Ready Is All About Consistency
Swanepoel says maintaining her famous bikini-ready physique isn’t about extreme routines, but, instead, it’s about staying active throughout the year. The supermodel explained that she tries to work out whenever her schedule allows, typically fitting in training sessions three or four times a week.
When work gets hectic, she focuses on squeezing in shorter workouts to stay consistent. “I’m usually bikini-ready all year round,” Swanepoel told W Magazine. “I try to train as much as I can, as much as my schedule allows it. Sometimes I’m too tired after work, so I try to work out in the morning.”
Even quick bursts of exercise can make a difference, she added. “Usually like three or four times a week. Or, even if I do 15 minutes of running on the treadmill or yoga at home. You know? Just something to keep it up.”
Swanepoel Stays Fit With Beach Activities And Tennis
When she’s on vacation, Swanepoel keeps moving by incorporating fun activities into her routine, whether that means tennis, running, swimming, or staying active on the beach.
“It’s just about making the workouts fun, I think,” she said. “And then it doesn’t really feel that bad.”
