Reality star and beauty mogul Kim Kardashian is helping to set the tone for the latest beauty craze, a skin tightening treatment that is non-surgical and has no downtime called XERF. This skin tightening treatment uses advanced radiofrequency technology to stimulate collagen and improve skin elasticity, delivering a smoother, more lifted look.

As Kardashian and other celebs embrace minimally invasive options, the demand for XERF is rapidly growing among beauty fans looking for noticeable results without going under the knife.

Melanie Speed, celebrity aesthetic injector and owner of Flawless Medspa in Las Vegas and Beverly Hills, had some time to sit down with The Blast to share just why this treatment is in the spotlight right now and why it deserves to be there.

A few weeks ago, Kardashian shared a photo of her during a XERF treatment on her Instagram Stories. She called it her “new fave tightening treatment.”

And now that’s she has brought some attention to the treatment that she said, “doesn’t even hurt,” many are seeking it as their new go-to aesthetic treatment.

So far, it seems that only a handful of medspas are offering XERF. One of them is Flawless Medspa in Las Vegas.

What Is XERF And How Does It Work?

Speed, owner of Flawless, explained what this new treatment is and how it works to The Blast exclusively.

“XERF is one of the newest non-surgical skin-tightening treatments from Korea that uses dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency to stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin. As we age, our collagen naturally breaks down, which is what causes sagging and loss of firmness,” she said.

“XERF safely delivers heat into the deeper layers of the skin, which triggers your body to produce new collagen and elastin. That process helps tighten the skin, improve texture, and create a more lifted, refreshed look without surgery.

When asked who the ideal candidate is for XERF, Speed explained that it’s “someone who is starting to notice early signs of skin laxity – things like loose skin, softening along the jawline, or loss of firmness.”

She continued, “It’s perfect for people who want to maintain their skin and stay ahead of aging, but it’s also great for patients who want improvement without the downtime or commitment of surgery.”

Celebrities Are Helping To Push XERF Into Popularity

XERF is quickly seeing a surge in popularity and some of the reason is because celebrities and influencers are sharing their experiences and thoughts on it. Also, word is getting around that it can help tighten skin in a natural way without surgery or needles.

“People are really shifting toward treatments that stimulate collagen and improve the skin in a natural way,” Speed told The Blast. “Patients want results that look refreshed and youthful without looking like they’ve ‘had work done.’ Treatments like XERF fit perfectly into that trend because they help the skin age better over time.”

She also added, “Celebrity culture definitely plays a role in bringing attention to new treatments, but what really drive popularity is results.” That helps the most to spread the word like wildfire about what XERF can do.

The Difference Between XERF And Other Popular Aesthetic Treatments

In addition to XERF being the talk of the town right now, many are also talking about other treatments that are similar, such as RF microneedling, Sofwave, and Ultherapy.

“The biggest difference is both the technology and the patient experience,” Speed said. “Some treatments use ultrasound energy or combine radiofrequency with needles, which can be more uncomfortable and often require numbing or downtime. XERF uses advanced radiofrequency energy that can treat multiple layers of the skin, including the SMAS layer, which is the deeper structural layer typically targeted in a surgical facelift.”

Because XERF can stimulate collagen at such a deep level without the use of needles, patients are flocking to it. And add the bonus of a painless treatment with no downtime, even someone with the busiest schedule can enjoy this without adjusting their schedule.

The topic of RF microneedling is something that’s been subject for debate for a while. And with XERF available, more people may consider skipping it and opting for XERF instead.

“There has definitely been a lot of conversation about RF microneedling, especially concerns about the possibility of affecting facial fat. In reality, the outcome depends heavily on the provider’s experience and how the treatment is performed,” she explained. “When appropriate settings and depths are used, RF microneedling can be a very effective collagen-stimulating treatment.”

With that said, some patients would prefer the collagen-stimulating benefits without the pain and downtime that comes with RF microneedling.

Speed said the most important thing when choosing a treatment is “selecting the right treatment plan for each individual patient.”

What To Expect From A XERF Treatment

XERF can treat a variety of areas on the face and body, including the jawline, neck, under the chin, arms, abdomen, and thighs. Speed said it’s a great option for mild sagging and for someone who would like tighter skin without surgery.

What type of results can you expect? “Firmer, tighter skin and an overall improvement in skin quality.”

“It’s not about dramatically changing your face – it’s about restoring a more youthful version of you,” Speed said. “The results look very natural because we’re stimulating your own collagen rather than adding volume.”

While some subtle tightening can be seen immediately after the treatment, the “real magic” happens in the following weeks after treatment.

“Typically, results continue improving for about two to three months, and depending on the patient, the results can last a year or longer,” she said. “Most XERF treatments take about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the area we’re treating.

Speed said they typically recommend two sessions to start. After that, maintenance treatments every six to 12 months can help support collagen production and maintain the results.
