Braff has raised his voice in the bid to silence the rumors about a recent bizarre love interest. It is claimed that the iconic actor has found love with an AI chatbot girlfriend, which he vehemently denies. He cleared the air on his Instagram story, explicitly writing, “I’m not dating a chatbot,” before adding that he was in disbelief upon hearing the rumors.

“I can’t believe I have to type these words,” the “Scrubs” star wrote before stressing again that he is not dating his chatbot, then concluded by urging the gossip websites to take note. Still, in his statement, Braff gave an alternate point as to where the rumors may have stemmed from.

He referred to the upcoming episode of the popular show, adding that maybe the idea of the widespread rumor came from the storyline of the recent reboot of the sitcom. The filmmaker signed off his statement with “Love, the guy not dating his chatbot,” reiterating his initial point and setting the record straight once again about the allegations of a relationship with the AI chatbot.

The speculations were started by a blind item on the “I Need You Guys” podcast hosted by Jenny Slate, Gabe Liedman, and Max Silvestri. During a conversation on the podcast, Silvestri mentioned that he heard of a “well-known actor who’s currently in a romantic relationship with his AI chatbot.”

The Daily Mail reports that although the podcast hosts did not state Braff’s name in connection with their statement, fans began speculating that the blind item was the iconic actor. Silvestri also claimed that the unnamed actor “brings the chatbot with him to places.” Kumail Nanjiani, who was also featured on the podcast as a guest, then asked how popular the actor was, and Liedman asked if he was “A-list,” to which Silvestri responded he was “as near A-list as TV can get you.”

Nanjiani, in continuing the conversation, inquired if the said actor was self-aware that others saw this kind of relationship as weird. Silvestri revealed the name of the actor to his co-hosts via texts but did not say it out loud.

Braff has been linked to a number of his fellow Hollywood stars over the years. As early as 2004, the filmmaker brewed a quiet relationship with Mandy Moore. The romance began shortly after her relationship with Andy Roddick came to an end. The pair initially kept the relationship private before declaring they were dating publicly. Their love blossomed, extending into their careers. Braff invited his then-girlfriend to do a guest appearance on the medical sitcom while she wrote songs about him on her “Wild Hope” album.

Hollywood Life detailed that the 50-year-old was linked to “Roswell” actress Shiri Appleby. They reportedly went their separate ways due to differences in their plans. “Shiri wanted to start a family, and Zach shuddered at the thought of being tied down. He can’t imagine getting married before he’s 40,” an insider shared.

Braff had a long-time relationship with Taylor Bagley from 2009 to 2014. The relationship was quite public as the pair attended a number of events together and gushed about their love for each other. In 2019, Braff and Florence Pugh were an official thing, constantly raising eyebrows because of their wide age gap. The romance lasted till 2022 when they called it quits.

The ‘Scrubs’ Star Revealed That Learning His New Costars Age Was Shocking

“Scrubs” returned to screens for its reboot twenty-five years after it first aired in 2001. It ran for nine seasons, from 2001 till its finale in 2010. Braff told PEOPLE that the ages of some of his new costars were “really shocking” for him. The realization that some of them were not born when the show first aired hit hard.

“I knew that we made the show in 2000, but I’m acting with these 25-year-olds who are brilliant and smart and clever, and then they say they were born in 2000, and it kind of blows your mind,” he said at the premiere of the “Scrubs” revival at The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.

The 50-year-old’s costar and best friend, Donald Faison, echoed those same thoughts, saying that they often do not realize how old they are until they are reminded. In his words, “To have someone say to me, ‘I was freshly out of the womb when Scrubs started, and now I’m on the show with you,’ was a little surreal,” he shared. “It’s a little like, ‘Wait a second, I’m that old? I’m that old?’ “

Two years ago, Braff joined Amada Kloot and the women of “The Talk” to promote his film, “A Good Person.” Their conversations explored the impact of vulnerability in the details of the film, which also stars his then-lover, Pugh.

“A Good Person” is based on the feelings that bloomed from the actor’s lifelong battle with anxiety and depression. The Blast shared that as the entertainers discussed, Kloots drew her personal experience with grief into perspective as she was still dealing with the death of her husband, Nick Cordero.

Her honesty throughout her journey with grief following her husband’s death in 2020 and the loss of her father and sister played a role in inspiring Bruff’s project. He explained that Kloot was an inspiration for “A Good Person” as the bottom line of “the story is about how we human beings are resilient and [can] stand back up after loss and grief and addiction and see hope on the horizon.”
