Erika Kirk recently took to her Instagram page to double down on her claims of not being interested in fame by sharing an old clip of herself being interviewed.

In the clip, the former beauty queen discussed how her faith steered her away from seeking the fame that comes with pageantry, and how she chose not to compromise on that decision.

“It was one of those moments where I really understood what it meant to just fall to the ground and tear your clothes and just say, ‘I don’t want anything to do with this anymore. I don’t want the fake… the fame that comes with it. I don’t want the pride, oh my gosh, I don’t want the pride,” the mother of two could be seen saying in the clip.

Added to the clip was a caption where Erika emphasized the remarks made in the video.

“It’s humbling when God asks us to loosen our grip on the things of this world in order to take hold of something far greater…and that’s His will. Growth scares people,” Erika said. “I’ve learned to embrace it. Because it’s a perspective shift while understanding that leaving behind what once felt “important” isn’t failure…it is grace.”

Netizens Say Erika Kirk’s Actions Don’t Match The Message In Her Post

Rather than steering people toward Erika’s point of view, the post seemed to further push netizens to call out her alleged hypocrisy, particularly regarding her taking over her late husband Charlie Kirk’s mantle.

“‘I don’t want the fame-‘ i just hopped [into] the CEO position ASAP and stepped out in glittered-up suits like a celebrity at every event after,” one user sarcastically.

“Girl, stop. We’re just not buying the bull,” a second individual noted, while a third wrote, “Does not want fame, does every single interview possible.”

Another netizen pointed out that Erika was dressed in a flashy outfit in the video, which they felt contradicted the message she was trying to convey.

“I find it a bit comical she’s talking about being done with the glitter, and she has sequins on her shoes & giant metal beads on her shirt,” the user noted.

Another person commented, “Damage control mode activated,” while a sixth said, “[What’s] the point in anything she’s saying? It’s just a lot of nothing with throwing in religion.”

The Businesswoman Received Support Amid The Backlash

Amid the harsh criticisms over her recent video, Erika also received some support, with many praising the mother of two for how she has handled herself since her husband’s death.

A person commented, “Such wisdom! True Christians know our SISTER. We love you and are praying for you, Erika. Eyes on Christ!”

Another wrote, “Nothing but love for you! You are beautiful inside and out!!”

One more individual defended Erika, saying, “People are mischaracterizing you the way they did Charlie. He was such a good example of a faithful servant. Stay strong, sister.”

The video from Erika comes on the heels of another shared on the social media accounts of her late husband’s non-profit.

In the clip, Erika claimed that she never envisioned her life “being like this,” seemingly referencing her current role as her husband’s successor.

She also revealed why she chose not to reject the mantle, claiming she is “honoring what the Lord has put in front of me” and “honoring my husband’s request.”

Elsewhere in the video, the mother of two directly slammed claims that she was in it for the money and fame.

“This is not a business card opportunity. There is something very Biblical in a woman honoring her husband and stepping up and standing in,” the businesswoman shared, per The Blast.

Besides being the CEO of Charlie’s non-profit, Erika was recently added to the Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors to replace her late husband, as reported by The Blast.

Charlie was an active board member and had attended the August 7, 2025, meeting, held weeks before his tragic death.

Erika’s appointment to the role was made by President Donald Trump, making her one of the 16 possible members of the board. She is also one of the six members whom the president handpicks.

Other members on the board include politicians like 5th Congressional District Rep. Jeff Crank of Colorado Springs, along with Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., and Chairman Rep. August Pfluger.

They are tasked with making “inquiries into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the Academy.”
