Dwight Howard‘s wife is blaming his behavior on a recent development in his life.
The NBA star’s partner, Amber Howard, called 911 for help after he allegedly locked her out of their Georgia mansion after an argument days before he filed for divorce on March 9, 2026.
Dwight Howard and his wife, Amber Howard, tied the knot in 2024 in a private ceremony, and six months into the marriage, she filed for divorce on grounds that the union was irretrievably broken, but later reconciled in August 2025.

Amber told dispatchers in a newly released 911 audio that she was locked out of their home, leaving her standing outside in the rain. She claimed that he frequently locks her outside their home whenever they have a spat, confirming to dispatchers that the person in question was the NBA star.
Amber continued that his outburst probably stemmed from his losing custody of his daughter the previous night, and he took out the aggression on her. She explained that after realizing she had been locked out of their home, she walked through the woods and gained access to the building through the side gates, risking the neighbors calling the police on her.
She recalled the cops warning him against that behavior in the past, telling him it was illegal to lock his wife outside their home, but he continued. In the March 6 call, Amber explained to the dispatcher that she was tired of sleeping in her car every time he got angry because he is rich and famous.
The basketballer’s wife denied any involvement of alcohol or other substances in that episode. As reported by TMZ, the NBA star’s wife also confirmed to the cops on the call that they own over a thousand weapons on the property, in a very nice gun room, but the athlete does not have any weapons on him during their exchange.

On March 9, Essence shared that Amber made hefty claims on social media in explaining why Child Protection Services visited their home and took away her stepdaughter. She began in the video that her marriage to Dwight has landed her in a very dangerous position, as she has been forced to take his side during multiple CPS visits to their home in the past.
“My stepdaughter was just taken by CPS because of her father. CPS, police have been here three times in less than three months, and I stood in it by my husband, even though I was scared for my own self,” she said. Amber added that she also has a video recording of Dwight teaching his 12-year-old son to lie about his drug use by placing a target on her to take the scent off his back.
She lifted a bag containing a white substance while declaring that she was losing her marriage to her husband’s drug addiction. Amber explained further that she had tried to leave the marriage earlier, but people in their circle convinced her to stay back and fight for their love. She revealed that her decision to leave now is not just about her, but the kids’ well-being and safety, too.
Dwight Howard Accused His Wife Of Theft Before His Divorce Filing
It was reported that Dwight had also called the police on Amber, stating in the conversation that she had taken off with several of his prized possessions. He mentioned some expensive items like wedding rings and his phone, which she carted away in a gray Camaro.
The theft reportedly went down at his Georgia mansion, with the NBA star informing the cops that he was not home at the time as he had to go pick up his child. Dwight’s alleged home robbery occurred on March 7, two days before he pulled the plug on their marriage.
Dwight currently shares five children with five different women, and does not share any with Amber.

Dwight raced to the court on March 9 to file for divorce from Amber hours after her emotional video went live on Instagram. TMZ shared that he listed the date of marriage as January 11, 2025, noting that there is neither a separation nor any plans to reconcile between them.
He affirmed that the marriage was broken beyond repair, and they also had no children. This was not the first time divorce had peeked its head in the couple’s marriage.
Back in July 2025, Amber had been lined up in court with a motive to put the union behind her, and Dwight expressed the same intention, but they both subsequently dismissed their requests.
