The Beyhive Attacks Beyoncé's Dad After Throwing Shade At Tina Knowles In Interview: 'It's Giving Old And Bitter'

No one is spared from the Beyhive’s sting, not even Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles. 

The music executive recently revisited conversations about his ex-wife, Tina Knowles, and her role in shaping Destiny's Child, the group that shot their first daughter to fame. 

While Tina's influence on the group's image and styling has long been acknowledged, Mathew appeared to downplay her contribution, and fans were not having it.

During a January 30 interview with news outlet PIX11, Mathew discussed Beyoncé and Solange’s careers. In a clip cut from it and shared on YouTube, he had a tense moment when Tina’s role was brought up. 

Anchor Kendis Gibson praised him, saying he had “earned his flowers” and added that he had expressed the same sentiment to Tina. "You guys put in the work, and obviously the talent was there," Gibson said.

Mathew quickly interjected, asking, "What work did she put in?" When Gibson listed Tina's efforts, including handling the group's hair and wardrobe, Mathew acknowledged the statement. 

However, when the anchor described the girl group as a "joint effort" between the former couple, Mathew appeared visibly displeased. He laughed, stood up, and abruptly announced, “We'll stop now,” before walking out. 

In no time, fans flooded in to weigh in on Mathew’s action. One fan wrote, “It's giving old and bitter Mathew. Do better!” A second fan remarked, “That's why he's starting all over again and can't enjoy this season of his life because he's a low-down narcissist,” and a third echoed, “a true narcissist.”

A third individual even went as far as bringing up the ex-manager’s past against him, writing, “He's a horrible person. He cheated on her and is acting like this. Horrible man.”

While a fourth person expressed shock at Mathew’s behavior to the host, calling it “a small man act,” a fifth individual described it as "loser behavior,” adding it was why his relationship with Beyoncé is strained. 

As fans blast the ex-manager, including referencing his cheating allegations, Tina has since been candid about the infidelity talks, admitting it strained their relationship to a point of no return. 

According to PEOPLE Magazine, Tina explained in her memoir “Matriarch” that infidelity was a "continuous problem" early on, but she stayed for years believing their love could outweigh the hurt.

Despite the turmoil, the couple worked seamlessly when it came to their daughters' careers, throwing in her weight as a hairstylist and fashion designer. 

However, in 2009, her world shattered when she learned through the press that the record producer had fathered a child outside their marriage. Two years later, the couple divorced. 

While Mathew’s recent remarks questioned Tina’s efforts in Destiny's Child's rise, past reflections from group members tell a different story.

As The Blast reported, Kelly Rowland spoke warmly about Tina during a December appearance on the "Mama, I Made It" podcast, crediting her with playing a significant role in shaping the woman she has become.

The singer shared that she has known Tina, whom she affectionately calls "Mama T," for most of her life. 

According to Rowland, Tina understands her completely, from her tone of voice to her smallest mannerisms, and described her as a "safe space," someone she can confide in without fear of judgment.

Although Mathew has now sparked backlash over credit for Beyoncé's success, he recently shared his thoughts on her billionaire achievement. The "Cuff It" singer officially reached the status in December 2025, marking another major milestone in her career.

According to The Blast, the 74-year-old said money was never his daughter's primary motivation. Instead, her focus has always been on her supporters and perfecting her craft.

Mathew added that Beyoncé's riches were simply the byproduct of her dedication and excellence.

Meanwhile, Tina recently recounted an uncomfortable experience at the Kentucky Derby.

As The Blast reported, she recalled that while waiting her turn on the red carpet, a staff member allowed a white couple to cut ahead of her, despite someone announcing that she was next.

Tina described the moment as a "wake-up call," claiming it exposed what she perceives as an exclusionary and racially charged culture surrounding the event.
