Jim Carrey made a rare appearance at the 51st César Awards, looking noticeably different, leading many netizens to claim he had either undergone surgery or had been replaced by a "clone."
A plastic surgeon has now weighed in on the controversy, noting the funnyman definitely had some procedures done.
Jim Carrey's rep has since spoken out about the wild claims surrounding his recent outing, noting that it was indeed the actor at the award ceremony.
Plastic Surgeon Claims Jim Carrey Likely Had A 'Major Surgical Transformation'

As chatter surrounding Carrey's latest appearance continues, several experts have weighed in, addressing what may have happened to the actor's face.
In a chat with Page Six, top plastic surgeon Dr. Rachel Mason of La Femme Plastic Surgery insisted that Carey has gone under the knife.
She said, "This appears to be a major surgical transformation. The most obvious indicator is the significant elevation of the brows, which points to a brow lift."
The Las Vegas-based surgeon noted that the procedure Carey may have undergone raises the position of the brow permanently and also helps smooth the forehead, while altering one's facial expression to "create a calmer, more open look."
According to the news outlet, Dr. Mason believes Carrey may have also had upper blepharoplasty performed on him.
She said, "The upper eyelids are no longer hooded, excess skin has been removed, and the eyes appear structurally different rather than simply refreshed."
The Cosmetic Transformation Can Cost As High As $60,000

Speaking more on the matter, Dr. Rachel Mason shared that Carrey may have also had a fat transfer and facelift to achieve smoother facial features.
"The mid-face and lower face are smoother, fuller, and more supported, which is consistent with fat transfer rather than small amounts of filler," she told the news outlet.
Dr. Mason continued, "The tightened jawline and lifted lower face strongly suggest a facelift, possibly a deep plane facelift, which repositions deeper facial structures for a more comprehensive result."
She also shared that the actor's smooth skin texture may be a result of laser resurfacing, noting that the procedure is "commonly used to refine the skin after surgical lifting."
According to the doctor, Carrey's potential cosmetic makeover likely cost him $30,000 to $60,000, depending on the route he took.
She said, "Taken together, these procedures would typically total approximately $50,000 to $60,000 if a deep plane facelift was performed, while a traditional facelift approach would place the overall cost closer to $30,000 to $40,000."
Dr. Mason further stated that Carrey's "appearance should soften and become more natural over time" as it's likely still in an "early post-operative swelling" state.
She believes the actor had no intention of making a "subtle change" to his facial appearance and that he was instead going for a "noticeable refresh."
What Fans Think About Jim Carrey's Look

The controversy surrounding Carrey's look got more complicated after drag queen Alexis Stone took to Instagram to share photos of prosthetics and a wig that looked like the "Dumb and Dumber" actor, captioning it, "Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris."
Stone, who's famous for impersonating Hollywood's favorite celebrities, managed to fool many online, including famous names like Megan Fox, Lisa Rinna, and "Love Island" alum Malin Andersson.
The skepticism was much the same on social media, as many raised eyebrows over his lighter eye shade and the fact that he was using his right hand to sign an autograph despite reports claiming he's left-handed.
"Jim Carrey is left-handed, and he was seen signing autographs with his right hand. This is not the real Jim. Probably a clone, as I have seen in an interview of his admitting he uses a clone," an X user wrote.
Another added, "He looks so different. Don't get me wrong, we all age. Something just feels off about this. Just my two cents."
Due to the widespread rumors, the actor's publicist put out a statement, stressing that "Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award."
The Actor Dedicated His César Award To His Dad

Carrey took home an honorary César that evening and took to the stage to give a powerful speech as he dedicated it to his dad.
"I wanted to recognize my dad. I mean, my dad was the type of person that if you met him for five minutes, you felt like you knew him for 50 years," he said in a viral clip captured after the event, per the Daily Mail.
During his speech on stage, he referenced his heritage to France and how winning the César, famously dubbed the French Oscars, has "come full circle" for him.
"About three hundred years ago, my great-great-great-great-grandfather, Marc François Carrey, left Saint-Malo in France for Canada," he said. "Tonight, with this magnificent honour, this "square" has come full circle. Perhaps this is what my family was looking for."
Jim Carrey Confirms Relationship With Min Ah

Not much is known about what the "Bruce Almighty" actor has been up to in recent times, as reports suggest he moved to Maui, Hawaii, in a bid to live a quieter life. However, it appears he hasn't been doing badly in his love life, as he confirmed his relationship with his "sublime companion" Min Ah at the event.
Carrey was joined by Min Ah, as well as his daughter Jane Erin Carrey and her teenage son Jackson, on stage, and he made sure to pay tribute to them as he accepted the award.
"Thank you to my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson," the actor said in French, "as I love you now and forever," per E! News.
He continued, "Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah. I love you, Min Ah. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father Percy Joseph Carrey, who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter."
Carrey was previously married to Melissa Womer from 1987 to 1995, during which they welcomed Jane, and was briefly wed to his "Dumb and Dumber" costar Lauren Holly. He also dated Renée Zellweger and Jenny McCarthy in the 2000s.
