Jack Schlossberg Says Ryan Murphy Is Profiting From Tragedy

Schlossberg is in the middle of his congressional campaign, and in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, he briefly shared his views on "Love Story," the latest series from executive producer Murphy.

Schlossberg's mother, Caroline Kennedy, is the sister of the late John F. Kennedy Jr. According to the commentator, Murphy knows "nothing" about the Kennedy family. "If you want to know someone who's never met anyone in my family, knows nothing about us, talk to Ryan Murphy," he stated.

"Love Story" premiered on February 12, and the nine-episode series will conclude on March 26. Even though not all episodes have aired, Schlossberg has made up his mind about the series. "The guy knows nothing about what he's talking about, and he's making a ton of money on a grotesque display of someone else's life," he added.

The Commentator Urges Ryan Murphy To Donate Profits

Schlossberg also urged Murphy to donate the "millions of dollars of profits" that he's making from the series to causes JFK Jr. supported.

Moreover, the 33-year-old shared that the announcement of the series struck him hard emotionally, especially after President Donald Trump added his name to the Kennedy Center and tore out Jackie Kennedy's rose garden at the White House to make way for the construction of a ballroom.

"So, if Ryan Murphy really cares so much about the Kennedy family, my uncle John, maybe he would try to do something about getting Trump out of power," Schlossberg challenged.

Jack Schlossberg Was Against The Series From The Beginning

This isn't the first time Schlossberg spoke about "Love Story" and Murphy. As previously reported by The Blast, he commented on a series of first-look photos of the show back in 2025 posted by Murphy, writing, "HEY RYAN, admiration for John is great, but maybe consider DONATING PROFITS TO THE KENNEDY LIBRARY, thanks."

Schlossberg then took to Instagram Stories to say that the Kennedy family was not consulted for the series, nor do they have anything to do with it, per People.

"The right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image, and likeness, doesn't survive death in the state of New York. For that matter, he's considered a public figure, so there's not much we can do," he explained.

In July 2025, Murphy addressed Schlossberg's backlash on California Gov. Gavin Newsom's podcast, "This is Gavin Newsom." The producer explained that there have been countless movies and TV shows about the Kennedys, and not one of them was ever authorized by the family.

"I never thought they wanted to do that. So, ours is based on a book that's very sympathetic to both people," he said, referring to the 2024 book by Elizabeth Beller titled "Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy."

According to Murphy, the vision for the series was to share the love story between JFK Jr. and Bessette, and he didn't expect the "firestorm" from the family. As for Schlossberg's comment, Murphy said, "I thought it was an odd choice to be mad about your relative that you really don't remember."

In response, Schlossberg said he has memories of his uncle, including JFK Jr. picking him up from school, being given the nickname Jackolantern, serving as the ring bearer in his wedding, and attending his funeral.

JFK Jr. And Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's Tragic Deaths

"Love Story" focuses on the romance between JFK Jr. and Bessette, starting from their initial meeting to their courtship, marriage, and their tragic deaths. The series stars Paul Anthony Kelly as Kennedy and Sarah Pidgeon as Bessette.

In July 1999, JFK Jr. was piloting a small aircraft on his way to his cousin's wedding, with Bessette and her sister as passengers. According to reports, there was a thick fog that disoriented Kennedy, and the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. All three died instantly.
