Robert Spoke With His Mother About His Struggles With Addiction During An Emotional Episode Of 'RHOSLC'

Robert's death comes a little over a year after an emotional episode of "RHOSLC" aired in which he spoke openly with his mother about his struggles with addiction.

At the time, Robert admitted to using Xanax to help balance him out, revealing that using drugs helps him feel like he's "adding seasoning to [my life]."

"Then, I started doing Xanax with Acid, and then Molly with Xanax. I really like Xanax, so I mix it with everything. Xanax and cocaine. You know the regular 30mg Oxys? I noticed … this was, like, a turning point for me. I was taking 10 at once, and I couldn't even feel it," he said.

Cynthia explained during the "Humble Brag" episode that she asked Mary about Robert's well-being during filming of the "Real Housewives" 20th-anniversary special in January 2026.

Robert was released from jail two weeks before his death in February 2026. According to PEOPLE, he was in jail after pleading guilty to eight charges after an incident with his ex-wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff.

During the "RHOSLC" season 6 reunion, Mary admitted to feeling relieved knowing Robert was behind bars, unable to access drugs.

"Unfortunately, he's learning the hard way, but I'm okay with it," she said. "It’s just, you don’t wanna see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good, and I’d rather him be there than dead."
