Robert De Niro is once again sounding the alarm against Donald Trump, this time branding him as an adversary of the country.
The “Godfather Part II” actor has been a longtime critic of the U.S. president and is not afraid to double down on his stance. De Niro is now calling all citizens to take action and fight against Trump.
Meanwhile, Christie Brinkley is also speaking out, condemning Trump's rollback of environmental regulations affecting coal plants and mercury emissions.
Robert De Niro Urges Citizens To ‘Resist’ Donald Trump
During the February 24 episode of “The Best People With Nicole Wallace,” De Niro leaned fully into his political activism as the midterm elections approached.
The 82-year-old icon got teary-eyed and didn’t mince words as he said people need to get rid of Trump, or he won’t be leaving on his own.
"The story is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are, but it's sick, it's f-cked up," the octogenarian lamented. "We have to save the country."
He stressed that unity in these times is critical before declaring, "Trump is the enemy of this country. Let's not kid ourselves." According to De Niro, fighting back is the only path forward.
"People have to resist, resist, resist, resist, resist. That's the only way,” De Niro urged. “There's no magic. There's no nothing - people are not going to go away, even if Trump dies for some reason by having an illness or something.”
Robert De Niro Backs Up No Kings Protest Last Year

De Niro’s emotional call for resistance is not the first time he has pushed citizens to speak up against the government, as last October, he supported the No Kings protest.
As The Blast reported, during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” the “Taxi Driver” star criticized Trump for pushing Americans to revive a movement reminiscent of the American Revolution.
He noted that the original protest 250 years ago fought to end the monarchy under King George III, only for Trump to threaten democracy today.
De Niro declared that Americans are rising again and this time nonviolently, insisting, "No Kings... King Donald I. F-ck that."
Robert De Niro Previously Slammed The U.S. President For Wanting To Ruin The Nation

De Niro has been vocal about his disapproval of Trump, and he took to it during Trump’s hush money trial, where he faced 34 fraud-related counts.
Per The Blast, the Oscar winner confronted MAGA supporters outside the courthouse and dropped scathing comments about Trump, portraying him as a threat to the nation.
He labeled him a "clown" and a "grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot." Speaking to the press, De Niro mocked, "I love this city; I don't want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and eventually, he could destroy the world."
He then tagged the billionaire mogul a “dictator” who would jeopardize democracy and told voters to throw their weight behind Joe Biden.
How Donald Trump Reacted To Robert De Niro’s Comments

After De Niro slammed him, Trump wasted no time in firing back at him. According to The Blast, the 79-year-old took to his Truth Social account, writing, "I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was."
He went on to accuse the Academy Award winner of suffering from an “incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome” and aimed at the actor’s talent.
Trump further claimed that since De Niro entered the political scene at the request of “crooked Joe Biden,” his brand has diminished drastically.
Christie Brinkley Slams Donald Trump For Keeping His Word About Destroying the Country

De Niro is not the only public figure calling out the commander-in-chief in recent times. Following Trump’s new slashes on environmental regulations tied to coal plants and mercury emissions, Christie Brinkley quickly voiced her outrage.
Per The Blast, the model warned that the decision to ease mercury pollution limits was harmful to lives. She highlighted the potential health risks, stating, "Mercury causes deformities in babies and developmental disorders of the brain!"
The author shared a quote from Trump dated February 20, 2026, which read, "I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT TO DO TO THEM. I'M ALLOWED TO DESTROY THE COUNTRY." In the caption, she admitted that he appeared to be doing “a good job of destroying the country.”
