Dua Lipa’s Past Becomes Emily Ratajkowski’s Next Chapter

Emily Ratajkowski has started a budding romance with Dua Lipa's ex.

The model hard-launched her new romance after rumors of a relationship arose last year. Although he was previously in a very public relationship with the singer in 2023, he seems to have put that part of his past behind him, moving forward with his new beau.

Dua Lipa and the French filmmaker dated for about eight months, during which they were spotted together at a number of public events. Emily Ratajkowski's relationship with the singer's ex reportedly kicked off last year and has just been confirmed. 

Ratajkowski has gone Instagram official with her new lover, and everyone can't help but mention his past relationship with the singer. She made the announcement, posting a carousel of photos on social media with the first three slides featuring the two of them.

The first photo captured Romain Gavras holding her waist and face while she backed the camera, and he appeared to give her a kiss on her cheek. The photo dump was accompanied by Donnie & Joe Emerson's "Baby" playing in the background, and the model left the post caption less.

In about six hours, Ratajkowski's post has gathered close to three hundred thousand reactions, along with comments from users tagging Lipa to the post. Many fans shared that they were happy for the model, while some questioned how Gavras was able to pull "such baddies."

"Dua's ex??? I think nobody could blame you [laughing emoji]," a fan wrote, while others simply commented they were happy for the couple. The comments were not totally free from some social media users who didn't think the relationship was a good idea. One even asked if it was a prank.

Lipa and Gavras were first spotted together in February 2023 but did not come out as a couple until May of the same year at a film festival. The songwriter also made an Instagram post announcing their romance at the time after the outing.

Rumors of their relationship ignited after they were first spotted together leaving Netflix's BAFTAs after-party at the Chiltern Firehouse in London, reportedly in the same car. Days later, the former lovebirds were photographed holding hands, leaving Saint Laurent's Paris Fashion Week show together.

Over the course of their relationship, Gavras was featured on his ex-lover's social media when she marked his birthday online with a cute post on July 4, 2023.

Seventeen detailed when the couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Omar La Fraise (The King of Algiers) during the 76th annual Cannes film festival in France. They both dressed in black outfits and could not keep their hands off each other as they posed for pictures.

Ratajkowski got married in 2018 to Sebastian Bear-McClard, and they share a son, Sylvester Apollo, who was born on March 8, 2021. Sixteen months later, the couple split and officially ended their marriage due to Bear-McClard's alleged infidelity. 

The mom of one spoke about embracing the single life after her divorce, sharing that she had never been single, adding that she was happy to go through the emotional roller coaster. 

She then admitted an unhealthy relationship trait she possessed and how it affected her romantic life. Describing herself as a "pick me girl," she noted that she wasn't very good at deciding what she liked.

"I really wanted to be chosen; it was hard for me to go on a date with someone and think about how much I did or didn't like them. I would have been thinking about how they were perceiving me, what it meant, what they wanted from me, what it meant about my self-worth," Ratajkowski explained.

Ratajkowski was linked to Brad Pitt in September 2022 and reportedly going on friendly casual dates and hanging out a lot. The friendship did not transcend to something more serious, and by October, it had hit the rocks.

While whispers of a relationship with the actor were still rising, Ratajkowski was photographed in New York City kissing DJ Orazio Rispo. They were seen together in the following year as well, but nothing was confirmed.

ELLE reported that in November 2022, the mom of one was linked to two men. Pete Davidson and Jack Greer, with whom she was photographed kissing outside her apartment.

The model was then rumored to have a friends-with-benefits situationship with Eric André in early January 2023. The pair were seen flirting and kissing in the Cayman Islands. Around Valentine's Day, André posted a now-deleted picture of the two of them in the nude. 

Ratajkowski was photographed locking lips with Harry Styles months later, and in summer 2024, she was rumored to be dating country music star Shaboozey.

Fans were stunned by the model's Victoria's Secret runway debut in 2025. She turned heads as she walked the Brooklyn Navy Yard runway in a pink push-up bra and matching G-string, with sheer gloves sealing the look with sparkling heels.

The Blast reported that fans praised her performance online, with one crowning her as "The best to ever do it," and others complimenting her beauty.

The model spoke about the surreal experience, stating how unbelievable it felt for her to be among top supermodels like "Gisele, Candace, Naomi, and Adriana."

Ratajkowski went on to praise Victoria's Secret for the casting that year, calling it a unique representation of beautiful women. "I'm happy to see that we are moving toward a less judgmental attitude toward women and the way they want to dress," the mom of one also noted.
