Willow Smith Shaves Head During Live Performance Of 'Whip My Hair'

Willow Smith famously whipped her hair back-and-forth into stardom, but the singer has had ENOUGH of her hair.

The daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith shot to musical stardom in 2010 when she was just 10-years-old.

Her hit single, “Whip My Hair,” blasted through radio speakers across the globe.

However, as Willow has grown up and evolved, she has come to the realization that that song was a burden on her life.

The pop-punk singer has been open about her struggles with success and the major pressure it brings.

After shooting to fame from “Whip My Hair,” she famously shaved her head putting an end to that era.

She also opened up on “Red Table Talk” about her battle with self-harm in 2018.

Willow recently opened up to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 about the pressures of living up to her parent’s legacies and making them proud.

“I always just wanted to do right by my parents," Willow explained. "And do right by the beauty that they have put in the world and continue to uplift that beauty and to uphold that beauty."

She admitted to feeling “a lot of pressure” to follow in their footsteps, but now that she is no longer a minor, Willow is able to forge her own path.

“Because I'm not a minor anymore, I'm finding the freedom to—I can put that beauty in the world,” she said.

And Willow found that freedom!

On Friday, July 16, Willow performed a pop-punk version of her 2010 song, “Whip My Hair,” while simultaneously getting her head shaved.

That’s right, Willow had her hair shaved off in front of a live audience.

This went down during the middle of her Facebook Live event, Willow in Concert: lately I feel everything.

The event was held to celebrate the release of her fourth studio album.

"This is such a special moment for me," Willow wrote on Facebook. "Celebrating the release of my album with Travis Barker + Avril Lavigne." Willow concluded, "Thank you for coming on this journey with me."

Her mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, recently revealed she was inspired by Willow to shave her hair off.

On July 12, she posted a photo of her and Willow, both sans hair, and captioned the photo, “Willow made me do it because it was time to let go BUT … my 50’s are bout to be Divinely lit with this shed❣️?.”
