Halle Berry has been in the entertainment business for more than three decades, starting her career as a model and transitioning into acting. She is one of Hollywood's most acclaimed stars, earning accolades for acting, including being the first African American to win a Best Actress award at the Academy Awards.
In the last several years, Berry has had only a few media appearances, choosing to focus more on personal life and advocacies. Now, she is sharing the reason why she opted to step away from the media circus.
Halle Berry Talks About Being Tabloid Fodder

Berry recently sat down with a journalist from The Cut to talk about her new film, and they touched on her absence from the media in the past several years. According to the "Monster's Ball" actress, she felt misunderstood, with past headlines only focusing on her past failed relationships.
Berry has been in some high-profile relationships and breakups, and she recalled the time when the public commented that she "can't keep a man." She argued that she didn't want to keep a man who wasn't the right one for her anyway, but said that she stopped doing interviews for a decade "because I got tired of the same old story."
When asked to come up with a suitable headline for herself, Berry answered, "Halle Berry Is Not a Damsel In Distress," "Halle Berry Is Not a Victim of Failed Relationships," and "Halle Berry Never Said It's Anyone Else's Fault."
Halle Berry's Past Relationships

It's quite difficult to keep a private life in Hollywood, especially for an A-list actress like Berry. Tabloids kept tabs on her relationships, and she became the topic of conversation whenever those relationships ended.
In 1993, Berry married former baseball player David Justice. They separated about three years into their marriage and were divorced in 1997.
Berry began dating singer Eric Benét in 1999, and they tied the knot in 2001. However, their union didn't last. Benét was unfaithful to the actress during their relationship and sought professional help for sex addiction. They separated in 2003 and were officially divorced two years later.
The actress was in a relationship with model Gabriel Aubry from 2006 to 2010, and they welcomed a daughter, Nahla Ariela, in 2008. Although the couple never married, their split became highly contentious due to the custody of their child.
In 2010, Berry started dating French actor Olivier Martinez, and they married in 2013. Berry gave birth to their son, Maceo-Robert, that same year. The couple filed for divorce in 2015.
She Was Celibate For Four Years

In a recent interview with The Times, Berry revealed that she had been celibate for four years before meeting her current partner. She decided to focus on herself and her children after her last divorce, saying, "I was solo and celibate for four years. I had to really sit myself down and be alone and grow and reflect and realize my value,"
Berry also shared that she had decided that if the right man doesn't come along, she's content being single, adding that she has her children and her career. "That's more than enough. I have an embarrassment of riches."
Halle Berry Has Found Love

Now, Berry is in a happy relationship with singer-songwriter Van Hunt. The two were set up by Hunt's brother during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they got to know each other over texts and phone calls before they met up in person after several months. Berry calls it "the best relationship" she's ever had.
As previously reported by The Blast, Berry was all praise for her new partner, saying, "I had to go through fire and burn to get to the point of appreciating a person like him. I was a moth to a flame. I no longer am that person."
She Feels 'Seen' In Her New Movie
Berry will appear in the upcoming crime thriller film "Crime 101" alongside Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Barry Keoghan. She plays the role of insurance broker Sharon Colvin.
The actress was a guest on The Graham Norton Show, where she told the host, "I have never felt more seen, protected, and stood up for as I did on this movie," referring to the work environment.
Berry also talked about the character, saying she had similarities with her. "She stands up for all women in middle life. She has a voice. I think that has been a long time coming," she explained.
"Crime 101" will be released in theaters on February 13.
