Britney Spears just exploded while making an appearance in her conservatorship case, claiming it is 'f---ing cruelty' and saying she wants to press charges against her father for 'abuse.'
The 'Toxic' singer joined today's court hearing by phone from her Los Angeles home and went off on her conservatorship and father while the court listened to arguments she should be able to hire her own attorney. During the hearing, Britney told the judge she is reading from a written statement and referred to the conservatorship as 'f---ing cruelty.'
"My dad needs to be removed today, so I can have the confidence to get back into the real world," she said. Britney explained to the judge she has "abandonment issues" after being placed under the conservatorship for the past 13 years. "This conservatorship is allowing my dad to ruin my life," Spears told the judge. Britney included a plea to "press charges" against her father for "abuse." At this point, Britney could audibly be heard breaking down in tears.
Britney Spears: They Make Me Feel Crazy!
"They make me feel crazy," she added.
During the hearing, Britney detailed issues she has with her father and the conservatorship like not being allowed to have coffee. Plus, although she has been able to drive a bit, she got pulled over for speeding several months ago, and Jamie took her license away. Interestingly, she mentioned they took her "hair vitamins" away as a part of her treatment.
Britney's current conservator Jodi Montgomery's attorney answered some of the allegations, saying, "We are dealing with someone with an illness."
As we reported, a new lawyer who was chosen by Britney Spears, attended the hearing and spoke up on her behalf asking why Jamie doesn't just step down as co-conservator today?! He addressed the court saying it is time for Jamie to "step aside" and move on so that Britney can get her life back. Interestingly, like many #FreeBritney protestors, the new lawyer questioned why Jamie won't just bail, asking if there were "financial reasons" for him to stay. As you know, Jamie is paid a monthly fee from Britney's cash to be her conservator.
Jamie Spears Will NOT Step Down As Conservator
"Jamie will not step down," his lawyer stated.
Britney received a huge win in today's hearing, allowing her to choose her own lawyer -- and allowing them to speak on her behalf. While addressing the court, he said Britney's "permanent conservatorship was not necessary in the first place" and they should be working towards her freedom. The judge also approved her former attorney's petition to resign from the case.
Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, was also present for the hearing and her attorney spoke up saying the system is "broken" and changes should be made immediately. At this point, the judge addressed everyone involved saying, "everyone should be working collaboratively for Ms. Spears."
In the end, the judge mentioned mediation so the parties can get on the same page, which would remove the case from the public courthouse.
