John Mulaney has added the active and present in-law badge from his wife, Olivia Munn's family, to his wins.
The comedian shared how integrated he is with his wife's family despite their cultural differences and how much joy he derives from playing his role as a supporting in-law.
Olivia Munn and John Mulaney's nuptials took place two and a half years after their son Malcolm was born and just four months after the actress shared that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. They welcomed their second child together, a daughter via surrogate, that same year.
John Mulaney Gives Financial Support To Olivia Munn's Family

Mulaney has taken on a specific integral role in his wife's extended family. He revealed that he significantly contributes financially to the family, and doing so brings him joy.
The comedian shared that, as his wife comes from a large Vietnamese family, he took it upon himself to put about ten of her extended family members on some form of payroll.
Diving into this role was new for Mulaney, he disclosed, saying, "For the first 39 years of my life, I supported, I think, zero Vietnamese people. Probably none. And now I have 10 on the books, a couple take Zelle."
Furthermore, the Hollywood star gleefully joked that he never has to wonder whether Munn's family members want him to send them money. "It brings me great joy to help out and do fun things with Olivia's family," he added.
Still in his conversation with Mike Birbiglia on the 200th episode of the "Working It Out" podcast, Mulaney shared how the experience was totally different with his family, who do not really require financial assistance.
He also explained how much fun he has spending time with the family, going out to eat, and shopping together. The father of two added that having almost ten Vietnamese people around him at the store now seems like a regular activity.
The Actress Previously Opened Up About Her Husband's Close Bond With Her Family
Back in 2024, while Munn spoke on the details of her relationship with her husband and how they built their family together, she gave a peek into the bond her family has with Mulaney.
She shared that initially, when they were starting out, there was really no dating phase; they barely knew each other before she got pregnant with their son. During that period, Mulaney showed his deep love and interest in family, as he was very excited to become a father.
They did not lay down any plans to get married, but Mulaney was keen on being a present dad. "It wasn't necessarily, 'We're going to be married and live together' or any of that, but it was, 'I will be involved in some way,'" Munn recalled in an interview.
She then shared that her husband had swiftly built a great rapport with her mother and relatives. "John has seamlessly fit in with my mom and aunts in a way that I have never been able to; they love the same movies, they love the same Vietnamese gossip," the actress said before Mulaney also chimed in on the conversation.
The 'Big Mouth' Star Previously Said His Wife Is Out Of His League

Mulaney is stunned by his union with Munn, as he gladly admits she is on a different level than he is. Their relationship began shortly after he completed a rehab stint for alcoholism and drug addiction, which he voluntarily checked into. He began the 60-day treatment program in the latter part of 2020 following a relapse.
Shortly after, the "Predator" actress became pregnant with Malcolm, and they decided to maintain their long-distance relationship while actively coparenting their son. Things changed quickly for the lovers; they decided to give cohabitation and coparenting a try before ultimately putting a ring on it.
At the Broadway premiere of his show "All In: Comedy About Love," the comedian was asked if he felt like he was "punching above his weight" in his relationship with Munn, to which he instantly agreed. He stated that Munn is wildly out of his league and that by a thousand percent.
Mulaney feels his wife could be with someone else whom he views as better than him, as he jokingly cited fellow comedian Richard Kind, The Blast shared.
The Hollywood Power Couple Had Their Conjugal Rites Done Secretly

The lovebirds topped the bar in intimate wedding ceremonies. They did the deed so privately, with only their then-2-year-old son and a witness present. The low-key wedding took place at a friend's house in New York.
Their nuptials were a breath of fresh air for the couple, as they had recently gone through a tough period. Four months before they got married, Munn had shared her breast cancer diagnosis, which led to many surgeries and treatment plans.
The "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress subsequently had to undergo four surgeries, a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy, and a medically induced menopause.
The Blast reported that through it all, her partner remained supportive and present for her and their son. His support was a pillar of strength during her recovery, making the process less terrifying.
Olivia Munn Shared A Hilarious Comparison Of John Mulaney And Their Son

Munn made a sweet and hilarious comment, jokingly comparing the father-son duo to Logan Roy and Tom in "Succession." Mulaney and his son, who was about 2 years old at the time, were captured rocking their fashionable outfits.
The comedian's post showed pictures of himself and Malcolm at the United States Customs & Border Patrol Office. The styling was done to a T as they rocked their pants, shirt, and coat, stepping out to stroll down a corridor.
The comedian wore a pair of dark pants and a matching shirt and coat, while Malcolm wore dark pants, a white shirt, and a brown jacket. His blue-and-white sneakers sealed the look.
As shared by The Blast, several other members of their fanbase commented on the young star's drip, noting that he walked like a boss as he was captured with his game face on, walking briskly beside his father.
