Why Timothée Chalamet’s Superfan Is Raising Red Flags

Timothée Chalamet is heading into what should be one of the most celebrated awards seasons of his career, but a troubling sideshow is now threatening to pull focus. 

While his romance with Kylie Jenner has drawn headlines, insiders say a far more unsettling presence has sparked quiet concern behind the scenes. 

From awards ceremonies to film festivals, an intensely devoted superfan has moved uncomfortably close to the actor’s inner orbit, raising questions about security and what this means for Chalamet’s moment.

Chalamet is entering what many believe should be a defining chapter of his career. 

At just 30, the actor is being hailed as “the greatest actor of his generation,” with “Marty Supreme” positioning him as a dominant force in awards season. 

However, sources say this success has come with an unsettling distraction in the form of Simone Cromer, a 59-year-old superfan whose fixation has grown increasingly intense.

Cromer, known online as Club Chalamet, has followed the movie star closely for years, building a massive social media following of roughly 600,000. 

While she once focused on celebrating his work, insiders now say her behavior has crossed into territory that makes those around Chalamet uneasy. 

One source described her presence during recent events as a factor the actor “doesn’t want to let overshadow” what should be a celebratory time.

The unease became more pronounced at the 2026 Palm Springs International Film Festival, where Timothée Chalamet attended with Jenner. 

The socialite, wearing a dark orange Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress, sat beside her man as he accepted the Spotlight Actor of the Year Award.

What drew concern was Cromer’s location inside the venue, seated just yards away from Jenner. 

According to insiders, Cromer has earned a reputation for harboring hostility toward the beauty mogul, repeatedly referring to her as “Slurpee” online and blurring her face out of photos with Chalamet. 

Some sources said her presence prompted heightened security awareness due to past attempts to drive a wedge between the couple.

A source told the Daily Mail, “It was certainly a shock to see Simone Cromer inside the event on Saturday night. It is such a special time for Timothee and Kylie, they don’t want to let anything overshadow it and Timothee is used to dealing with fans like a professional and with class.”

Unlike previous encounters limited to red carpets, the Palm Springs event marked the first known time Cromer gained access to an awards ceremony. 

Entry to the gala can be purchased for as little as £390 ($526), though it remains unclear whether Cromer bought a ticket or received one through volunteer work.

A TMZ video captured the super fan approaching Chalamet during the event, reportedly to wish him a belated happy birthday. 

As she stood, the Hollywood star was seen consulting with his security detail. 

During the brief exchange, a hand appeared around his waist before he turned away to take a sip of his drink. Cromer then walked off without acknowledging Jenner.

Later, Cromer told her followers on X, “Ok, so I gave Timothee a hug and said Happy Birthday here at the Palm Springs film festival gala.” 

She added, “I told Brian [believed to be a member of the actor’s entourage] that this is Timothee’s year and he said he hopes so.”

The interaction unsettled many fans, who voiced concern across social media platforms. 

One commenter wrote, “Someone get her a restraining order before she pulls a John Lennon. He definitely did not want that hug.” 

Another added, “This account does feel like it’s going to have a dark ending at some point in the not-so-distant future.”

Cromer, a self-described film critic, moved to Los Angeles from Michigan nearly a decade ago after earning a psychology degree in 1996. 

She first became a fan of Timothée Chalamet in 2017 after watching “Call Me By Your Name.” 

Her Club Chalamet blog originally focused on career updates, public sightings, and awards campaigning.

She also organized charitable efforts, including raising more than $2,000 for Odyssey House last December, inspired by Chalamet’s role in "Beautiful Boy."

However, her tone shifted sharply after the actor began dating Jenner, with repeated claims that Jenner had forced her way into his life.

Tensions surrounding Cromer’s fixation intensified after Chalamet publicly acknowledged Kylie Jenner at the Critics’ Choice Awards. 

Accepting his Best Actor trophy, he said, “Lastly, I’ll just say, thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Insiders say the speech was particularly significant given Cromer’s past reactions to the relationship, including posts urging fans to “step away from social media” after Chalamet and Jenner were first seen together. 

An insider previously told the Daily Mail that Chalamet has no intention of engaging with online hostility, explaining, “Unless it starts getting dangerous, Timothee is not going to fuel or acknowledge the protest.”
