Gwyneth Paltrow is reflecting on her divorce from Chris Martin and how it was more trouble than she expected.

The actress and businesswoman enjoyed a blissful marriage to the Coldplay band's frontman for 10 years before they decided to go their separate ways in 2014.

Although Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin parted ways on good terms, their divorce caused a stir due to their decision to label their split a "conscious uncoupling." They welcomed two children during their union, daughter Apple and son Moses.

Paltrow opened up about the end of her marriage to Martin in a new interview, revealing the aftermath of their divorce. She explained that her career took a shocking hit, as she had been scheduled to participate in a movie.

"I was supposed to do a movie at one point, and it was like right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris, and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press," Paltrow shared on a recent episode of the "Good Hang with Amy Poehler" podcast.

The actress suspected the movie producers did not want to be associated with the negative media surrounding her divorce and gave her the boot. The event left a bitter taste in Paltrow's mouth, who sarcastically added: "So, that was great, because I was getting a divorce and then I got fired. It was so awesome."

Paltrow believed her 2014 separation from Martin sparked backlash because they described their split as a "conscious uncoupling." She explained that the term, which was highly publicized at the time, was not common.

The blonde bombshell noted that she could understand why many had an adverse reaction to the term because people were used to toxic separations, only to find out that there was a better way to end things.

"I think the implicit learning is, 'oh, f-ck, they're saying I did something wrong,' which of course was not the intention," Paltrow said. She doubled down on understanding why her divorce from Martin hit some people personally; however, she did not regret making a conscious effort to have an amicable split.

More About The Former Couple's Love Story

According to PEOPLE, Paltrow and Martin first crossed paths in October 2002 at a Coldplay concert. They met backstage just three weeks after the "Iron Man" actress lost her father. A year later, they announced they were expecting their first child together.

Days after the baby announcement in December 2003, Paltrow and Martin said their vows in a Santa Barbara ceremony without any of their parents in attendance. Their first child, Apple, arrived on May 14, 2004, followed by their second, Moses, on April 8, 2006.

Paltrow and Martin remained couplegoals for years until their sudden separation. Months after celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary, they announced their "conscious uncoupling" in a post posted on the TV personality's Goop website in March 2014.

A month before Paltrow's podcast appearance, The Blast covered her "Actors on Actors" chat with Hollywood heartthrob, Jacob Elordi. During their conversation, the proud mother of two tried to play matchmaker for her daughter, Apple.

Paltrow casually highlighted Apple's interest in Elordi in her chat with the actor, noting that he was a big deal in her home. "My son looks up to you; my daughter is in love with you," she gushed, adding that she might also fall for the younger actor.

Elordi accepted the compliment in stride, noting that people frequently raved about their loved one's affection for him, yet he rarely had someone profess their love for him. On that note, Paltrow replied, "I love you, Jacob."

Paltrow's attempt to play matchmaker for Apple came days after she opened up about her differences with her second husband, Brad Falchuk. Last December, The Blast reported that the entertainer shared her feelings on the "Goop" podcast.

She raved about her love for Christmas, explaining that she always anticipated the holiday with glee, unlike her partner. "My husband is a little bit of a Grinch, so he's the opposite," Paltrow told listeners, confessing that he frequently killed her holiday spirit.

Paltrow called him out for hating everything about Christmas, from the music to the decorations; even a delicious roast turkey couldn't change his mind. Falchuk's dislike for the holiday made his wife "feel very alone" in her love for Christmas.
