Derek Hough's Wife Welcomes Their 'Rainbow Baby' After Miscarriage Experience

Derek Hough and his wife are now a family of three!

The duo joyfully announced the arrival of their first child, who has now brought comfort to the family after revealing that they previously experienced a miscarriage.

Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, tied the knot in 2023 after dating for nearly a decade amid their appearance on "Dancing With the Stars."

The media personality took to Instagram to share the good news with nearly 4 million followers today about the arrival of a little gem who has restored their broken hearts.

"December 29, 2025. Everley Capri Hough. Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been cracked wide open, and our world is forever changed," Derek wrote in the caption.

The post featured a black and white image of Derek and Hayley's hands delicately cupping the feet of their adorable infant. Derek's announcement has since amassed thousands of likes and comments of well-wishes for the new parents.

Fans flocked to the couple's comment section with Derek's big sister leading the pack and stating, "Welcome to the world, sweet angel Everley." 

Another commenter declared: "I've been waiting for this post!!!! Congrats, beautiful family of 3. Plus kitties and puppies!!!!" Over 20 thousand fans gushed at how pleasant Derek and Hayley's news is to their ears.

One fan even praised the fact that they were able to keep such news under wraps for a very long time. In their words: "What!! The 29th?? Ooh, you're good at keeping secrets and posting older videos. I've been waiting so impatiently for updates!"

Actress Kate Hudson simply dropped an adorable chicken emoji surrounded by two red hearts in the comment section. Emmy-winning actor Phaedra Parks welcomed the choreographer and his wife into the bliss of motherhood, while wishing that Everley gets to be "the best baby ever."

Supermodel Heidi Klum also came through with the "Congratulations" and multiple love emojis. Derek and Hayley are definitely not short of good vibes to fuel this journey of parenthood.

The dancer and his heartthrob unarguably bounced back from one of the most painful experiences of their lives, which was the loss of their pregnancy.

Derek and Hayley reflected on a personal event that rocked their family while they lent their voices in honor of Pregnancy Loss and Awareness Month on October 15, 2025.

As shared by PEOPLE, the choreographer uploaded an emotional video on his Instagram expressing that it is a tribute to their grief. While they were elated to welcome their rainbow baby, Derek emphasised that the post was to honor their baby "that never made it earthside."

The video began with clips of Derek and his wife informing their family and friends that they were pregnant and panned out to the unfortunate moment they learned about their miscarriage. He concluded the post, noting that:

"One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, a silent heartbreak so many families know, and one we unfortunately had to experience. As we share this, know that there's a rainbow not far behind."

When the choreographer found himself in the throes of heartbreak and loss, he revealed that the dancing show provided a much-needed succor. As shared by The Blast, he stated that without the show, he would have lacked direction on the next step to take.

According to him, "But I will say this show literally has saved my life. [I don't know] what would happen if I didn't have this thing that kept me focused and on track and kept challenging me to be better."

Aside from the miscarriage, Hayley had also gone in for an emergency craniectomy in December 2023, shortly after their wedding. Ultimately, the new mom received a skull implant and recovered from the episode.

The 40-year-old did not hesitate to sing the praises of his wife following a successful surgery. The Blast noted that he gave an update when he appeared on the red carpet at an event for Jennifer Lopez. 

Speaking to interviewers, Derek praised Hayley's unbelievable strength and how he remains in awe of her every day. He described what she went through as a miracle, noting that her victory is nothing short of incredible.

The mother-of-one was rushed to the hospital earlier in December 2023 when she experienced a disturbance during a performance alongside Derek. Hayley herself got candid about the surgery and recovery process, which took a toll on her emotionally and physically.

She, however, assured her well-wishers that things were looking up healthwise, and the progress has left her immensely grateful.
