He said, per the Daily Mail, “Thanks for crafting a role and a story.”

“You know, Josh, you made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream, and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong. I think we should all be telling stories like that. Thank you for this dream,” the actor added.

“Marty Supreme,” produced by A24, entered the night as a strong contender but ultimately lost Best Picture to “One Battle After Another,” a Warner Bros. production. 

The Best Picture field also included “Bugonia,” “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet,” “Jay Kelly, Sentimental Value,” “Sinners,” “Train Dreams,” and “Wicked: For Good.”
