Travis Kelce's Chiefs Teammate Urges Him To Give It 'Just One More Year' As Retirement Rumors Swirl

Travis Kelce's teammate, Chris Jones, has made an emotional plea for the Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end not to retire, amid rumors that he would be stepping away after this football season.

Travis also addressed rumors about a potential retirement, admitting that he's still thinking about what to do as he has yet to find the "answers."

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones got candid after being asked about his teammate, Travis Kelce, possibly retiring from the NFL.

Jones' remarks about Travis came while speaking to the media after the team's loss to the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day.

"I hope not, man," Jones said in response to a question about Travis' future with the Chiefs. "We have just been through so much together, and Travis has been a pivotal part of this offense for so long, and he's been like a brother … I hope this isn't the last year. I hope he gives it one more year. Just one more."

Travis himself has admitted that he has yet to make a decision about retirement, but noted that an answer will come after the football season.

Travis opened up about his uncertain future in the NFL during a pre-recorded sit-down with Amazon Prime Video ahead of the Chiefs' 20-13 Christmas Day defeat to the Broncos.

The 36-year-old acknowledged that this year has been a frustrating one for the team. For the first time since 2014, Travis' sophomore season, the Chiefs will miss the playoffs.

Their hopes of defending the AFC title ended earlier than expected, made worse by the loss of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who suffered season-ending ACL and LCL injuries two weeks prior.

During the conversation with Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez, Travis was asked outright whether the Broncos game might mark his final appearance at Arrowhead Stadium.

"I think I'm still searching for those answers," he admitted, per the New York Post. "Obviously, the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated, but I've got to make the right decision for me. I gotta hope that if I do wanna come back, that the Chiefs are willing to bring me back. It's a two-way street on that."

As he weighs his options, Travis revealed that he frequently turns to his older brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, for perspective and guidance.

Despite the uncertainty, the three-time Super Bowl champion made it clear his passion for football hasn't faded.

When asked what would keep him playing, Travis pointed to the emotional pull of the game itself. "I know when it's over, it's over," he said. "I feel like I still have a lot of love for this game, I feel like if I came back it'd just be to answer that flame in my heart that I still love this thing."
