An affidavit from Kyle's arrest shed more light on what happened, with TMZ reporting that his wife had told dispatchers he was making suicidal and homicidal threats. She explained that they had gone out for dinner earlier that evening on Saturday when Kyle turned aggressive.

According to Kyle's wife, he suddenly picked up a fork, pointed it at her, and threatened her. The incident at the dinner did not seem to escalate further until they were driving home, with Kyle's wife alleging that he started yelling and made her "fear that he would assault her."

Kyle's violent episode appeared to have been alcohol-fueled, with officers claiming he confessed to drinking approximately 64 ounces of beer at the restaurant. He also seemed to be under the influence when responding officers approached him.

The Incident Marked Another Issue Between The Media Personality & The Sheriff's Office

Kyle's run-in with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office marked another sore spot between the pair, as they had previously butted heads in September 2024. At the time, Kyle was taken into custody for aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

However, he turned the tables on them by suing Rutherford County and two of its deputies. Kyle filed for $1.7 million in damages, accusing the defendants of unfairly targeting him because of his family's name and arresting him for a crime he did not commit.

Kyle's attorney, Wesley Clark, backed his claims, accusing authorities of looking the other way and unjustly arresting his client.

Kyle previously slammed the Sheriff's Office in 2024, ranting on social media that he had been protecting his family from a man who allegedly wanted to extort him. Yet, he was arrested while the real culprit was free.

Todd and Kyle have had a complicated relationship for years, but the father-and-son duo were united during one of the most terrifying moments of Kyle's life. The Blast reported in 2019 that Todd shocked fans when he posted a picture of the Chrisleys by his son's side.

The whole family gathered together in unity by Kyle's hospital bed, with Todd revealing in the caption that Satan had tried and failed to destroy their family. The patriarch shed more light on what happened on their podcast, confessing that Kyle had tried to end his life.

Kyle explained on the episode that he had a bad reaction to a medication, which made him have "all kinds of crazy thinking." He and Todd noted that he was off the drug, but did not specify the product's name or why Kyle had been on it. However, the latter has a history of substance abuse.
