Why Brooklyn Beckham Shut His Parents Out At The Worst Possible Time

The Beckham family’s long-running feud has taken another deeply personal turn, and this time it has played out in full public view. 

What began as whispers of an Instagram unfollow quickly escalated into claims of blocking, emotional fallout, and renewed accusations of manipulation. 

At the center of it all is Brooklyn Beckham, whose decision to cut off contact with his famous parents has stunned observers, particularly given the timing, just days before Christmas and during some of the biggest moments of David Beckham’s life.

The latest rupture in the Beckham family feud surfaced over the weekend, when reports claimed David and Victoria Beckham had unfollowed Brooklyn Beckham on Instagram. 

That allegation was swiftly countered by their youngest son, Cruz Beckham, who insisted the situation was far more serious. 

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Sunday, Cruz shared a screenshot of a Daily Mail article about his parents no longer following Brooklyn. 

He noted that, contrary to the reports, he and his parents were blocked instead. 

“NOT TRUE! My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let’s get the facts right. They woke up blocked. As did I,” Cruz wrote.

Tensions within the Beckham family reportedly began soon after Brooklyn Beckham started dating Nicola Peltz, the American actress and daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz. 

According to those familiar with the situation, relations deteriorated further after the couple became engaged. 

The first major fracture came over Nicola’s wedding dress, after Victoria promised to design it but later did not deliver.

Matters worsened on the wedding day itself in April 2022, when Marc Anthony described Victoria and not the bride, as “the most beautiful woman in the room.” 

Friends later claimed the moment left Brooklyn and Nicola in tears, and alleged that the Beckhams had “ruined” the day. 

Although attempts were made to repair relations afterward, underlying resentment remained. 

The actress attended Victoria’s fashion shows and milestone birthday celebrations, but insiders say the peace was fragile. 

By April this year, tensions reignited, setting the stage for an even more public breakdown.

By the time Brooklyn and Nicola returned to the UK for David’s 50th birthday celebrations, the relationship had deteriorated to the point where the couple felt unable to attend any of the parties. 

That absence marked a turning point. From that moment, the feud became impossible to ignore. Over the summer, briefings from both sides intensified. 

Sources linked to the Beckhams reportedly claimed Nicola “controls” Brooklyn, with some even referring to him as “the hostage.” 

The hostility escalated again when the former photographer and his wife renewed their wedding vows in August. 

All members of the Peltz family attended, while David and Victoria were pointedly absent, a move described as a “kick in the teeth.” 

Following the latest fallout, a friend of Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola revealed that David and Victoria had been asked to stop contacting the couple. 

According to the source, social media activity from the Beckhams causes anxiety for Brooklyn and Nicola, who wake up worrying about what may have been posted overnight.

“The Beckhams started these ‘blocking’ game stories earlier this year and they keep going,” the friend said to the Daily Mail. “Whether someone follows someone else on Insta or any other platform shouldn’t be and isn’t a story.” 

The insider added that the couple “just want peace” and have deliberately avoided responding publicly. 

Even Cruz’s intervention was viewed negatively and described as another form of pressure. 

“The Instagram stuff is just a media play — it feels like more manipulation, more gaslighting,” the friend said, explaining that it only drives the couple further away.

At the heart of the ongoing conflict are the summer briefings, which Brooklyn and Nicola believe were deliberately aimed at damaging the latter’s reputation. 

One source described it as “a deliberate campaign of misinformation about the most personal things in their life.” 

According to insiders, Brooklyn and Nicola feel that the pain caused cannot be erased with public gestures or social media posts.

Meanwhile, sources close to David and Victoria insist the estrangement is taking an emotional toll, particularly around David’s knighthood and the holiday season. 

“The door is always open,” one insider said, stressing that they hope to reconcile with their son, even if Nicola remains distant. 

However, a source close to Brooklyn and Nicola dismissed that stance, calling it “quadrupling down” on the conflict. 

“He and Nicola are totally unified and as strong as ever,” the source said, making it clear that Brooklyn’s decision is not temporary and not made lightly.
