Sam Asghari Insists Aftermath Of Britney Spears’ Marriage Is ‘Irrelevant’ Amid Comments

Sam Asghari is determined to leave the past in the past. 

The model recently spoke about his marriage to Britney Spears, making it clear that he wants to appreciate it and not dwell on it because it’s behind him. 

Spears and Asghari tied the knot in 2022, but their marriage was short-lived. It came to an end barely two years later when they got divorced in 2024. 

In a recent interview, the topic of Asghari's ex-wife, Spears, came up. However, the 31-year-old model was unwilling to dive deep into it. 

Although he spoke fondly of her, he said, “And whatever follows is irrelevant.” He also expressed the desire to respect what he had with her, saying, “So, I always want to respect that. I’m always going to stick to that, and that’s the number one thing for me.”

Asghari is instead more interested in discussing things in the present and the future because he can’t change the past, only celebrate it.

He further shed light on his desire to skip discussions about the end of his marriage to Spears, telling Playgirl, “And the best thing you can do is celebrate the past, appreciate the past, and not dwell on the fact that it’s over. Be happy it ever even happened.”

Spears and Asghari met in 2016, got engaged in September 2021, and tied the knot nine months later. However, they separated in August 2023, ending their 14-month marriage. The model filed for divorce from the singer in 2023, citing irreconcilable differences, and the divorce was finalized in 2024. 

Asghari’s comments came four months after Spears made a sad admission about her marriage to him.

The 44-year-old singer shared a candid post on social media, reflecting on what she termed the “hardest years of her life,” per The Blast.

She spoke about being separated from her children, Jayden James and Sean Preston, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. During the period of separation from her kids, she also tied the knot with Asghari.

However, even her marriage to the model didn’t soothe the pain she felt from being away from her children. She admitted that her marriage to Asghari “almost felt like a fake distraction” to help her cope with the pain.

Although Spears viewed her time with Asghari as nothing but a distraction, the model begs to differ. He cleared the air about his marriage to Spears, saying that while it may have been short, it was as real as ever to him.

“Our marriage was very real to me. It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her," he said, as reported by The Blast.

Despite Spears’ statements, Asghari refuses to hold a grudge against her. He insists that even though they are no longer together, he wishes her the “best always.” 

This is not the first time Asghari has publicly spoken about his marriage to the “Womanizer” singer. According to The Blast, in June, he acknowledged that his relationship with Spears gave his career the boost it needed to grow to where it is today. 

"I can't sit here and lie and say, 'It wasn't good for me,'" he confessed. "When you're in such a public relationship, that gives you that platform. It sort of gave me that platform for who I am."

Being with a star like Spears also kept Asghari on his toes, as he constantly had to “work harder” to prove himself. 

Before Asghari spoke about the impact his ex-wife had on his career, he opened up about his new relationship with real estate agent, Brooke Irvine. 

He spoke heartwarmingly about his relationship with Irvine, saying, “It’s about love. That’s what it is,” per The Blast. He made it clear that their connection was not about the industry or Hollywood but about fostering togetherness in the real world. 

Asghari also gushed over his newfound connection, revealing that when it comes to Irvine, he is only focused on being present and being in the moment with her.
