Miley Cyrus Reveals Plans To Honor 'Hannah Montana' With A Special 20-Year Celebration

"Hannah Montana" fans should buckle up, because Miley Cyrus confirmed an epic 20-year celebration is coming soon. That's right—the former Disney star turned pop culture legend shared that she's been spending the last few months strategizing how she can honor the character that turned her into a global superstar when the show marks its 20th anniversary in March 2026. While it's still unclear what the celebration will entail, fans can bet it's going to be worth the wait.

In an interview with Billboard, Cyrus, 33, opened up about the possibility of a "Hannah Montana" reboot down the line, effectively shutting down rumors that the magic of the 2006 series can be recreated.

"I don’t know if there is a new Hannah," the iconic actress said. "This is the only Hannah."

As Cyrus reflected on the show's upcoming 20-year anniversary, the pop star acknowledged how playing such a popular character impacted her.

"For me, I love looking back at the growth for both of us because it’s very rare that someone grows up with their fanbase," she said. "When I was 15 years old, I’d look out and see 15-year-olds and now I’m a grown woman, I look out and see other grown people. So what I want to do is honor the longevity of the relationship that we built."

For those unfamiliar with the series, "Hannah Montana" followed an everyday girl, played by Cyrus, who moonlighted as a global pop star, selling out arenas day in and day out. According to Cyrus, portraying her character actually hit closer to home for her than many may realize.

"Hannah Montana, it outgrew the fantasy," she said. "It became the reality of my life. Something that was about a regular girl getting to have this extraordinary life by being someone that she’s not and then turning my life and having this life because of being who I really am and authenticity. So getting to celebrate that—20 years is a long time."

As previously reported by The Blast, Cyrus got candid with Ryan Seacrest about the massive success "Hannah Montana" had and how it helped shape her career at an early age.

“Without Hannah, there really wouldn’t be this...me,” she said. “It’s so crazy to think that I started as a character that I thought would be impossible to shed, and now, that’s something that when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood. But now, I’ve sort of been integrated into everyone’s life as the character has.”

It seems fitting that Cyrus would want to pay homage to Hannah for the show's upcoming milestone. In 2021, she penned an emotional letter to the fictional character on Instagram, celebrating the 15th anniversary and detailing how much the show changed her life.

"You were a rocket that flew me to the moon and never brought me back down. I couldn't have imagined when taping myself singing 'I Love Rock n' Roll' against a white wall in my mom's friend's kitchen on the front of a first draft script would make my wildest dreams a reality. You and I have been through it all, my friend," she wrote.

Continuing, Cyrus called portraying Hannah Montana "an honor" before revealing how much of herself she owes to the unforgettable character. "I am indebted not only to you Hannah but to any and everyone who believed in me from the beginning. You have my loyalty and deepest appreciation until the end," she wrote.

According to The Blast, Cyrus became engaged to her longtime partner, Maxx Morando, just days ago after four years of dating.

The pair were first linked in December 2021, when they were spotted behind the scenes at the NBC holiday special, "Miley's New Year's Eve Party."

After that, the couple confirmed their relationship and haven't been apart since. A source told PEOPLE that Cyrus "is very happy with [Morando]," and that the musician is a "great guy."
