Jenny McCarthy Breaks Silence On Health Scare Involving 'Nine Surgeries This Year'

Jenny McCarthy is excited for the holidays after enduring months of health woes.

The TV personality, who rose to fame as a nude model for Playboy magazine, got candid about her well-being in a new interview. She revealed she had visited the doctor's office for multiple surgeries amid her ever-busy schedule.

Jenny McCarthy has been married twice, first tying the knot to actor John Asher in 1999 and welcoming a son named Evan. The pair separated in 2005, and the entertainer found love again with actor Donnie Wahlberg, whom she wed in 2014.

McCarthy opened up about her health ordeal while sharing her excitement for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She explained that her struggles stemmed from a persistent dental issue, saying, "I've had nine surgeries this year, on my mouth. I had one infection that turned into another and another."

The problems began with a failed ceramic dental implant, with McCarthy recalling that her teeth kept falling out. Doctors finally figured out the problem when they dug into her jawbone and discovered a deep bone infection. The TV personality was then placed on antibiotics.

Unfortunately, McCarthy was unlucky and had to undergo multiple surgeries because of the recurring infections. She told PEOPLE that she ended up losing weight because her mouth was full of stitches and she could only eat soft foods. On the bright side, she looked incredibly fit in her family's annual holiday card.

After nine months of surgeries and a year of antibiotics, McCarthy could finally chew again. However, she was keeping her fingers crossed because the cycle of recovery and relapse had repeated itself one too many times.

"Every time we thought it had cleared up, it came back again. I'd be in massive pain with my jaw swelling up, and at the same time, I was getting these growths popping up on my eyeballs," McCarthy explained. She added that her year of health struggles deserved the public's sympathy.

Another reason McCarthy hoped her recovery would last was her excitement for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She explained that she and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, had been unable to spend quality time together due to their busy schedules. On that note, the holidays were the perfect opportunity for the lovebirds to relax.

One of the surgeries McCarthy underwent during her dental issues was a root cavitation procedure. She shared the news on Instagram on August 27, sharing a video she had no memory of filming after completing the operation.

In the clip, McCarthy was still under the influence of the anesthesia as a tooth scanner moved across her jaw. She could barely form her sentences while hiccuping, telling fans the trip to the dentist was her third attempt at root cavitation surgery.

"I'm high as a kite. What kind of medicine was that?" an incoherent McCarthy wondered. She poked fun at herself in the post's caption, feeling grateful that the clip was the only video she found on her phone because she had no memory of what happened after the surgery.

As stated, McCarthy lost weight during her battle with repeated infections and looked extremely fit in her family's annual holiday card. She and her husband, Wahlberg, stripped down to their swimsuits to flaunt their figures for the Christmas card.

Fans of their annual tradition might remember them taking the photoshoot to steamy heights in 2022 when they bared it all for the holiday ad. The Blast covered the story, reporting that McCarthy and Wahlberg went nude for the Christmas card.

The couple posed confidently, with their naked bodies fully displayed as they promoted McCarthy's Formless Beauty collection. She shared the ad on Instagram, revealing fans would get a signed copy of the nude holiday card when they shopped her cruelty-free beauty line.

McCarthy and Wahlberg have been together for over a decade, with their first meeting happening on "Watch What Happens Live" in 2012. They made a joint appearance on the show, where host Andy Cohen had encouraged the actor to ask McCarthy out on a date.

Although Wahlberg didn't take the offer, he changed his mind a year later after reuniting with McCarthy on her VH1 talk show. They went on their first date two weeks after the episode and confirmed they were dating in July 2013.

The duo wasted no time solidifying their romance, with Wahlberg popping the big question in April 2014. PEOPLE reported that they tied the knot months later at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles, Illinois, on August 31, 2014, with McCarthy's son's blessings.
