Kandi Burruss And Todd Tucker Embroiled In Legal Issues Before Marriage Troubles Surfaced

Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker recently parted ways. However, newly surfaced information reveals that the couple was dealing with problems far beyond their marital issues. 

The couple’s joint business, Burruss Tucker Restaurant Group, was accused of owing thousands of dollars in back rent, among other expenses. 

Burruss and Tucker recently announced their split after 11 years of marriage, during which they welcomed three children together, Riley, Ace, and Blaze. 

Burruss and Tucker's joint restaurant business recently pleaded for an emergency court hearing against the landlord of their restaurant, Blaze Steak & Seafood, according to US Weekly.

Per court documents, the landlord, Montego Pacific, sued the business for owing $154,139 in back rent. Pacific also alleged that the company owed an additional $56,495 for repairs and accused the company of not paying certain charges needed to maintain the premises.

Meanwhile, the company denied the claims and instead alleged that the landlord removed the signage of the Blaze Steak & Seafood restaurant without proper consent. Burruss's business also accused Pacific of leasing the premises and clearing out fixtures originally belonging to the company. 

“The [landlord] has taken the law into their own hands and unjustifiably initiated a dispossessory of [Burruss Tucker] from the leased premises,” the documents stated. 

Burruss and Tucker’s company further claimed that they have not been allowed to operate the business since July 2024. As such, they filed for an emergency court hearing, and the landlord asked for it to be denied. Meanwhile, Burruss claimed the whole situation was only a misunderstanding.

“It really was a disagreement about some repairs that they made and then who would be responsible for it,” she said. She also revealed that there was a back and forth between the company and the landlord, which eventually escalated into a full-blown legal drama. 

At the end of the day, the former “RHOA” star believes that both parties will eventually come to an agreement. “It’ll be fine,” she said. 

Shortly before news of Burruss and Tucker’s legal trouble came to light, the reality star announced her decision to walk away from her 11-year marriage. 

Per The Blast, she acknowledged that while it wasn't an easy move, she was focused on prioritizing the well-being of their three children. She also expressed anticipation for what the new chapter of her life would bring, writing:

"I'm stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family."

Following the shocking news of her divorce, the Bravo star revealed that her emotions were all over the place.

According to The Blast, she shared that while the split may have been shocking to some people, it was a long time coming because her marriage had been on the rocks for a minute. 

In addition, Burruss also had to deal with various narratives flying around about her marriage, and this further added to her emotional turmoil.

Despite it all, she shared that her children were faring well and were committed to adjusting to their new life as seamlessly as possible. 

Before Burruss opened up about the reality of the end of her marriage, she revealed that she was set to join the cast of Broadway’s “& Juliet.”

She will take on the role of Angelique in the production, which will run from December 11 to March 8, 2026, per The Blast.

When she made the announcement, the “RHOA” star stated that she “could not be more thrilled to return to the Broadway stage in this incredible musical.”

She then praised Max Martin’s “genius mind” and noted that, as a huge fan, it was a significant achievement for her to be part of a musical that celebrates his legendary catalog. 

News of Burruss’ involvement in the Broadway production came months after she opened up about making her exit from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” 

As The Blast reported, when  asked if she was looking forward to a break from the show, Burruss replied, “I’m more than excited.”

She also revealed her intentions to use her time away from the show to take on new hobbies, including traveling and scouting for more work opportunities.  

Notably, despite being away from drama, she still showed support for the show, which premiered in March.
