Pete Davidson is known for many things, like his work on Saturday Night Live or his career as a standup comedian as well as starring in a couple of movies. That being said, his tattoos, some of them odd-looking to say the least, are also a big part of his persona.
Davidson though is going through a long process to remove all of his tattoos. He's taking this experience to reminisce about the past and many of the questionable decisions that lead to him getting the tattoos in the first place.
The Decision To Remove The Tattoos
Davidson announced his decision to get his tattoos removed, at least publically, last May. He was very open about the reason why he had made the decision. Saying that movie producers would most likely refrain from casting him because of his looks.
Digitally removing tattoos on actors can be an expensive endeavor, and doing so on the makeup chair can take a long while. There may be other reasons why Davidson made the decision. One of them has to do with money!
The Ad Campaign
Arguably the main reason why Davidson's tattoos are news today was because of his ad campaign with Smartwater. The video shows Davidson in one of his laser removal procedures. He talks about making bad decisions in the past. Saying some of those bad decisions need removing. Obviously referencing the tattoos.
The ad then takes the spin that you would've expected it to take. Having Davidson talk about how drinking the water is such a great decision. The ad was meant to focus on folks who may be going through a rough time after the 4th of July weekend. If you had too many beers get yourself some water.

Now Rocking Nail Polish
Davidson is making an effort to get his tattoos removed, but that doesn't mean that he's totally done with painting different body parts of his. He mentioned in a recent interview that he had a manicure done for a shoot. What he wasn't told was that the nail polish was going to be with him for a while. He mentioned,
"I think they're cool, but I wasn't aware that I would have them for so long."
He joked though, about stealing the look from his longtime friend Machine Gun Kelly.

Other than talking about his tattoos Davidson has been in the headlines lately due to speculation about his future on SNL. Pete has been part of the cast since 2014. Most of his recent comments point to the fact that he is not coming back for another season.
Even if Davidson does not come back to the show his exit is set to be an amicable one. In another recent interview, he mentioned that he would have to speak to Lorne Michaels about his future on the show. Even if he doesn't stay on board he mentioned that he would like to continue working with Michaels' production studio on new projects!
