For Prince William and his partner Kate Middleton and their kids, honesty is the best policy.
The future king confessed that when it came to breaking the news of the Princess of Wales' diagnosis to their three children, it became so important to prioritize being as transparent as possible and not giving the kids false hope.
Prince William was basically hit with the twin task of handling his father, King Charles, and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, which were months apart. Still, things are luckily currently looking up for the duo as they journey towards total recovery.
Prince William Shares The Communication That Works With His Kids

The royal admitted that he and the Princess of Wales decided to be fully open about her medical condition, adding that "hiding stuff from them doesn't work."
He revealed this to Brazilian TV host Luciano Huck during his recent trip to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize awards, where the host helped him process the last two years, which were tough for him.
William noted that indeed every family has a technique or two that worked for their family dynamics, and for them, communicating more made things better. He, however, warned against oversharing, but ultimately concluded that more questions often ensure where answers are lacking.
The philanthropist continued that it is also about finding balance and knowing the perfect time to strike. "It's, 'How much do I say? What do I say? When do I say?' There's no manual for being a parent, you've just got to go with it – a bit of instinct," William concluded per PEOPLE.
The Prince Of Wales Shared More Insights Into Managing The Kids

William had also echoed similar thoughts in a previous interview when he asked how the kids were faring amid their mother's cancer diagnosis. According to him, the children were constantly learning and adapting to their coping mechanisms through it all.
"We try to make sure we give them the security and the safety that they need," the prince shared, adding that it is very crucial to be there and constantly reassure the children that everything will be okay.
In his sit-down with Huck, he also gave a glimpse into how he and Kate share the errands when it comes to the school. William stated that while he is responsible for dropping the kids off at their playdates, sports games, and other activities, Kate does the bulk of the school drop-off and pick-up.
On their access to the internet, William admitted that he held doubts about the concept because one can not necessarily monitor all of the kids' activities online and the content they consume.
Prince William Called His Wife, And His Father's Cancer Diagnosis Shocking

The father of three reflected on his family's clean health history during a TV appearance and how it made the burden of the whole cancer news heavier. As stated by The Blast, he recalled his grandfather and grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, living well into their nineties with agility and strength.
That pattern gave him some assurance that things were solid in his clan healthwise until Charles' cancer episode came in. In his words: "But I think, when you suddenly realize that the rug, if you were the metaphorical rug, can be pulled from under your feet quite quickly at any point."
He admitted that when the news broke, he was a mess emotionally, but his optimism sustained the tempo. In February 2024, the palace confirmed that King Charles had been diagnosed with a benign prostate condition, and a month after that, Kate shared that she was undergoing chemotherapy for her health.
The Future King Was Proud Of His Wife And Father For Fighting Through Cancer

The Blast shared a year ago that the overlapping health crisis in the royal family was dreadful and was the most challenging year of her life.
He made this statement at the Earthshot Prize Ceremony in South Africa, explaining that going through everything in his family while trying to stay on track has been tough on him.
Despite this cloudiness, he expressed his pride in his wife and father for handling things the way they did, but it did not take anything away from the brutality of it all.
In the spirit of handling things bravely, William and Kate stepped out to a state banquet for US President Donald Trump, where he was filled with praise for the billionaire mogul.
They also met with the classmates of children who were stabbed to death by a UK teen during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in 2024. The three victims were all under 10 years old, namely Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice DaSilva Aguiar, 9.
Prince William Opened Up About His Kids' Interest Outside Social Media

The 43-year-old continued on his no-phone rule with the kids, asserting that they improvise with lots of time on the trampoline and other activities.
As reported by Marie Claire, he revealed that Prince Louis enjoys bouncing away on the trampoline, and Princess Charlotte keeps busy with perfecting ballet and netball.
As for Prince George, his eldest child, he finds joy playing football and hockey. However, the Prince of Wales noted that all his kids are learning to perfect their skills at playing instruments, but there is still a lot of ground to cover.
Kate and William tied the knot in 2011 at Westminster Abbey and welcomed Prince George in 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
