Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber Escape Stalker Who Harrased Them With 'Sexually Graphic' Comments

Cindy Crawford and her daughter, Kaia Gerber, can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as the court has now ensured their protection from an alleged stalker.

After a series of disturbing incidents and threats from 35-year-old Daniel Lee Schoonover directed at both Crawford and Gerber, the supermodel filed a restraining order in October.

In a recent development, the court has accepted the request, protecting the women against any further harassment by Schoonover.

On Friday, November 7, a judge ordered Schoonover to remain at least 100 yards away from Crawford and Gerber, as well as their homes, workplaces, and vehicles, per TMZ.

The order not only protects Crawford and her 24-year-old child but also extends to her husband, Rande Gerber, and is set to remain in effect until October 7, 2028.

As part of the ruling, Schoonover, who was absent at the hearing, was also directed to surrender any firearm registered in his name within 24 hours of the restraining order's issuance.

In the court documents Crawford filed a month ago, she recounted that the harassment began when Schoonover allegedly appeared uninvited at a theater in Massachusetts where Kaia was performing and asked her to take “part in a séance.”

Crawford's concern escalated months later when Schoonover was reportedly spotted outside her California home, dressed in black, ringing the doorbell, and asking if Kaia lived there.

After realizing it was the same man from the theater festival, Kaia obtained an emergency protective order. However, Schoonover's harassment reportedly continued online, with messages that the TV personality described as “threatening, sexually graphic and extremely concerning,” according to The Daily Mail.

The 59-year-old runway star expressed fear for their safety, with Crawford stating that Schoonover had even taken it to an extreme level and threatened to harm her partner. 

“I am even more disturbed that Schoonover has threatened to murder me and my husband, particularly [now] that he knows where I live,” the model wrote in her petition at that time, emphasizing the emotional distress the situation caused. 

This is not the first time Crawford has faced a serious stalking incident. In 2022, a British man who falsely claimed to have a child with her followed her to her home. Although she was in Paris at that time, her kids were at the residence. 

As The Blast previously covered, the situation occurred when the man allegedly traveled from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles and showed up at her home, where he was caught banging on her windows and doors.

Fortunately, her security team intervened before he could get any closer, after being alerted by her children. He had even shared photos of himself on social media posing in front of posters of Crawford. The man had since been arrested and formally charged with stalking.

Amid the traumatic experience of dealing with disturbing encounters, Crawford and her family also faced the heartbreaking loss of their dog of seventeen years in May, which The Blast covered.

The catwalk star announced the sad news on Instagram, expressing her deep love for the pet after a childhood fear of dogs following a bite. She explained that she didn't want her fear to affect her children, so they adopted two small, gentle dogs to break the cycle.

Through the pets, Crawford discovered the joy and warmth animals bring to a home. She fondly recalled watching her children play with the dogs, chasing them, cuddling, and enjoying family moments that became treasured memories.

Despite the challenges Crawford and Gerber have faced, the cover girl praised her daughter for following in her footsteps while protecting her personal space and managing her career.

Per The Blast, Crawford expressed pride in Gerber’s maturity and balance, noting that her daughter has learned valuable lessons from both her and her partner.

She reflected on the differences between her own modeling journey in the 1980s and Kaia's experience today, highlighting how fame has changed in the era of social media 

While acknowledging the added pressure of constant online scrutiny, Crawford highlighted that Kaia is navigating her public career and private life thoughtfully and responsibly.
