Pitt and Jolie's bitter court battle has taken a dramatic turn with new court documents revealing that the actor has sued her for $35 million in damages.

The former lovebirds have been in a tense back-and-forth over Jolie's 2021 sale of her stake in their Château Miraval winery for an estimated $60 million.

According to People Magazine, a November 2023 email exchange submitted in court showed that the 61-year-old actor filed to sue her over their ensuing differences.

"The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr. Pitt's own creation - he is suing Ms. Jolie for $35 million in damages," an extract from the exchange read. "As a result, he has to incur the expense of producing the documents that will show (or not show) those damages."

Pitt's initial lawsuit, filed in 2022, alleged that Jolie violated a prior mutual agreement by selling her half of the company, Nouvel LLC, to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of the Stoli Group, without his consent.

He claimed to have poured time, money, and sweat into developing the vineyard's acclaimed rosé wine business, which has grown into a globally recognized luxury brand.

However, Jolie claimed they never had such an agreement and filed a countersuit against the "Troy" star.

The pair got married in August 2014 but went their separate ways in 2019, following a 2016 private jet incident in which Pitt allegedly assaulted her and one of their six children.

The "Maleficent" star has previously claimed that the actor wanted her to sign an NDA that would prevent her from speaking publicly about his alleged verbal and physical abuse.

Her lawyers noted recent filings that "Pitt's continuing refusals to produce documents relating to the reasons why he needed his four-year NDA covering his personal misconduct," claiming they were "the heart of our case and must be produced."

However, the "Fight Club" actor and his lawyers responded, claiming the signing of the NDA was a standard business practice as it relates to the famous winery and its sale.

Pitt also doubled down on his request that Jolie provide the private communication and emails she had over the sale of her stake in the vineyard. More than a week ago, his lawyers submitted papers in the Los Angeles County Superior Court demanding that the records be made available to him.

Jolie has previously said that her attorney-client privilege is one of the reasons she has refused to turn them over, per People Magazine.

However, attorneys for the Oscar-winning actor argued that she is "abusing the privilege to bury critical documents that go to the heart of the case," going further to ask for a total of 22 documents.

"It is Jolie's burden to prove that non-attorney communications are privileged, not Pitt's burden to disprove this," Pitt's lawyers said in the court filing.

A counsel to the actress, Paul Murphy, told the Daily Mail that Pitt's "reply brief does not address our arguments and continues to rely on conjecture and speculation – all for the purpose of invading her privileged communications with her lawyers."

He added, "This once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt's years-long effort to harass and control Angelina. We look forward to the upcoming hearing."

As the actor prepares to head to trial next year, Pitt has since moved on and is now dating Ines De Ramon.

They're seemingly planning to take their relationship to the next level as a source told People Magazine that they moved into a new house and are "fully living together."

"Brad is really including Ines in all his travel plans, and when they are home, they just relax together," the insider said. "They are really making their home into a home."

The couple has been seen together on several outings, including when she joined him at a Formula 1 race event as well as when she accompanied him on the press tour for his recently released sports film.

"They are happier than ever," another source told the news outlet last month, adding that they're "going really strong."
