Teddi Mellencamp's Shocking Connection To Ex-Husband's New Girlfriend

In Hollywood, things are definitely closer than they appear; case in point, Teddi Mellencamp's estranged husband's new partner.

The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum and her ex Edwin Arroyave's new beau share a very close connection that once saved her life and has made him eternally grateful.

Teddi Mellencamp has enjoyed the unwavering support of her estranged husband since her cancer diagnosis, including hospital sleepovers and positive affirmations. 

While the businessman kept his dating life under wraps after his separation from Mellencamp, a health scare brought it to the fore. He recalled the former reality star suffering a debilitating headache that had them seeking urgent medical attention.

Arroyave explained that Mellencamp had kept her constant headache a secret from the family for six months before she finally sought medical attention, and his girlfriend, Hayet Amalou, was the only one who could help.

As reported by The Daily Mail, he noted that, while things were not yet official between them at the time, she did them a tremendous service by telling them where to go and what to do. According to him:

"I was like, 'Is it okay if the girl I'm dating can kind of walk us through what is going on?" Because in these moments, every second counts. And luckily, that's what happened."

He added that she even helped them navigate how to get the brain scans done and which doctors to consult, which greatly helped, since most hospitals typically give patients pills and send them home.

Describing Hayet as "Godsent," Arroyave said it was a divine coincidence that he had met his beau a month before Mellencamp's health issues. He noted that being with a radiologist who knew everything they had to do brought him significant relief.

Mellencamp even had a surgery at the same hospital Hayet works in February, although she did not get to participate in the process or treat Mellencamp directly. The relationship has remained strictly a family affair due to their kids' involvement and the nature of her job as a medical professional.

Arroyave said his kids are very friendly with the doctor and spend a lot of time together, but he is not a fan of sharing all those personal details with strangers online.

"Even on my podcast (The Eds), I've alluded to having a girlfriend, but I've even kept it very minimal because she does not like attention like that," the former TV star noted.

Between Arroyave and Hayet, five kids exist: four belong to the former and a daughter to the latter, who separated from her husband last June. Arroyave had clarified that Hayet was very much separated from her ex when they met and began dating.

Arroyave is not the only party that moved on from the ruins of their marriage. The Blast noted that Mellencamp also found love in the arms of Ricci Rea, although they broke up a few months later.

Mellencamp explained in her podcast at the time that her partner was very quiet, unmarried, and had no kids. The duo got together around March, months after she separated from Arroyave and began her divorce process.

Despite finding their rhythm with different people, Arroyave and Mellencamp's commitment to each other's well-being did not falter. The reality star's ex continued to prioritize her health and remained amicable for the sake of their children.

Sources close to the couple noted that the illness brought them closer, as they set aside their unresolved issues and focused on Mellencamp getting better and bouncing back. Arroyave had insisted that his love for Mellencamp remained steady regardless of their marital status.

Mellencamp and Arroyave met for the first time at a nightclub in 2009 and remained close friends for 2 years before taking things to the next level with a wedding in Indiana. As shared by US Magazine, she raved that it was an instant attraction that remained even after she saw him with a ponytail the next morning.

Things went relatively smoothly for the couple after they tied the knot, until 2017, when her appearance on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and her fertility struggles caused a strain on the union.

She blamed their issues on a power struggle back then and the fact that it took her time to adjust to Arroyave being in charge of their finances.

Well, the former couple eventually welcomed three children during their marriage and stayed together until 2024, when Mellencamp confirmed her intention to part ways with Arroyave.

Mellencamp listed the separation date as October 20, 2024, and confirmed in her announcement that she decided to share it with the world to take control of her narrative.

The mother-of-three bounced back from her stage 4 cancer melanoma, but the journey so far has left her with a series of side effects that leave her overwhelmed on some days. The Blast reported in September that the actress took to social media to detail her battle with anxiety amid her immunotherapy. 

In the clip, Mellencamp solicited the creation of an online community to help everyone struggling with the side effects of cancer treatments to find solace. She had earlier admitted on her podcast that the treatment also left a dent in her mental health.

Mellencamp complained to her pal and co-host, Tamra Judge, that she suddenly found it hard to think straight or focus on any task for an extended period, prompting her to seek medical advice, which confirmed it was due to immunotherapy.

The Bravo alum ultimately resorted to taking a break from the bouts of treatment to give her body the needed period of rest.
