His first diagnosis was in 2018 and was documented on the reality show. The diagnosis was hard on the 53-year-old who admitted that taking care of her husband was a struggle. Unfortunately, this new cancer battle is more “difficult”. She described her husband as being “different” now. “He’s super small. If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different. He’s different.” After the 2018 cancer diagnosis, the couple was elated to reveal that the 66-year-old was no longer battling cancer.

“We are over joyed to say, we saw the doctors for the results of Gregg’s PET Scan he took last week! Test show, wait for It…..WE ARE CANCER FREE!!! Yes God!” wrote Leakes on Instagram. Of course, it comes as a shock to many who were hoping and praying for the former reality TV stars to be cancer-free forever. Some fans even expressed concerns that their marriage will not survive another battle with the persistent disease. The couple was on the verge of another breakup during season 11 of the Bravo reality show. Leakes was extremely overwhelmed with being a caretaker and got real about it in an interview.

In a PEOPLE magazine exclusive, Leakes shared that “it’s very, very hard to be a caretaker.” She got candid about her home life with her husband as they navigated their way through his diagnosis and treatment. “People call and they say, ‘How’s Gregg doing?’ and I want to throw the phone and say, ‘How the f- am I doing? I’m going crazy over here, Gregg is wearing me out!’” she frankly shared. Thankfully, the lounge owner knows her strengths and weaknesses. “I am not good at this s-! I would rather hire somebody.” Unfortunately, for Leakes, her husband put the pause on that idea.

Hopefully this time around, the couple is stronger and more mentally and physically prepared for their new battle. They have been married since 1997 and have two children one son from Leakes' previous relationship and a son together. However, cancer has not been the only bump in their road. Leakes left Gregg in 2011 only to tie the knot again in 2013 with Bravo giving them a wedding special. Unfortunately, she left the popular show in 2020 and not on the best of terms with production. So, chances of fans getting an update on Leakes and Gregg’s progress will be limited to social media. Or, if you live in Atlanta you can go to the Linnethia Lounge and turn up with the former housewife yourself.
