Just when we thought the world of beauty influencers had retreated for a summer vacay, in comes Jeffree Star to dig up old drama!
Okay, so it wasn’t exactly Jeffree doing the digging up, but alas, “Dramageddon 2019” has resurfaced.
Since his car accident earlier this year, Jeffree has pretty much stayed out of the spotlight, out of any scandals and has distanced himself from the beauty community.
During an interview with E! News earlier this month, the MUA revealed that he would be focusing on staying positive and not getting involved in any drama.
“I know that may sound like a crock of s–t from one of the most dramatic people in the makeup industry, but I’m generally in a really good place mentally, and I definitely wasn’t before,” he told the outlet.
Jeffree Star Is A Changed Person!
Before the life-changing accident, Jeffree was notorious for getting into drama that didn’t even involve him.
One of the biggest scandals to rock the YouTube community was “Dramageddon” in 2019.
The scandal first started between beauty influencers Tati Westbrook and James Charles.
It then escalated to a point where apology videos and retaliation videos were being made left and right. Receipts were dug up and a lot of finger pointing was going on.
Jeffree, Westbrook and Charles used to be extremely tight prior to this, so when he made the claim that Charles was a “danger to society” and a “predator,” the beauty community basically exploded.
It’s all very messy and old news at this point, given Charles is no longer on the platform due to recent underage sexual harassment allegations.
However, this story was one for the history books and just had to be readdressed!
Friends turned ENEMIES!
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jeffree was asked about where his relationship with Charles and Westbrook stands today.
Jeffree admitted that the relationship between him, Westbrook and Charles is non-existent.
Zip, zilch, nada!
He revealed to ET that he has not spoken to them in two years; however, his relationship with Shane Dawson, another controversial YouTuber, is still in tact.
Shane came under fire in 2020 after old racist tweets and videos surfaced. He also made claims about wanting to have sex with Willow Smith when she was underage.
He has taken a very long hiatus from YouTube, but promised his fans that he would not be abandoning his channel for good. He hinted at a comeback earlier this month.
He’s working on a comeback!
In an Instagram post on June 9 he wrote, “Dads left the house. ❤️ Ps. I know I haven’t posted a video in a long time and I promise it’s not because I don’t want to. I’m just trying to stay in a good mindset and be happy. I promise I’m not going to abandon my channel after 15 years of creating 🙏🏻 Just been re-evaluating my life the last year and figuring out what I want to do with it. Life is short and I’m grateful for every second of it. Hope you guys are doing well! I miss you! :,)”
In a YouTube video earlier this month, Jeffree revealed he’d be leaving California for Wyoming.
“For the first time in my life, at 35 years old, I am finally leaving California,” Jeffree admitted. “I am gonna sell this house. …2020, and I think I’ve said this a million times, but it really took it out of me.”
“Me, personally for my mental health, and the next chapter of my life and my journey, I need to step away. …I really needed to do it for me. This decision was astronomically hard,” the cosmetics mogul said.
